Guest somedude Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 (edited) I hate to start another GPS thread for the i910, but i dont want to disrupt whats going on in the "please help us" thread. It seems like progress is being made. So, we all know Verizon promised us unlocked GPS by the 1st half of 2009. What do we do if they DONT follow through on their word? What happens July 1st? I say we hit Verizons message boards, email, their customer service with a barrage of "Where is our GPS" questions, for the whole day. It might not be much, but its something. I mean we cant take this laying down.... If someone has a idea that may deliver the message stronger or a better way to hurt Verizon, Im all ears. I really hate this company now. Guest Chugworth Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 News of the newly-released Canadian Omnia is making me think we could see an update any day now. It is the i910, and it is complete with Samsung's latest updates and widgets which Verizon does not have. This is proof that Samsung has the i910 update ready. It's just a matter of Verizon releasing it, and it will bring new features that the dumb consumer will notice.
Guest aceofrazgriz Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 the problem is... they didn't PROMISE anything. they said they'd unlock by 1st half of 09 *IF* they were able to collaborate with samsung and get it done by then. so basically, even if they don't do it, its not like we can even say they lied.
Guest WoZZeR999 Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 Pretty much a useless argument. My general theory on the internet is, if Big Company X doesn't hold their 'Word', then people will just bitch more. While I hope they do open it up so we don't have to use workarounds, there really isn't a whole lot we can do other than fix it ourselves. If it comes down to this, hopefully we will have more people working on it, and people who can really get down to business and get it fixed. Most of the leads I've been working on aren't really leading anywhere, and my current theory as to why GPSTest and GPSServ only work some/most of the time is beyond my grasp on how to fix. The only way complaining would work, is if we could talk to people who could actually get stuff done, people like the EFF.
