iGO8 and Omnia less Memory

Hi to all iGO, Omnia Users,

need some help to install iGO8 please.

I have copied a full package (IGO8) on the SDCARD of my Omnia (16GB), this full package should be a workin version for the Omnia Phone.

i have 2 folders in root of my sdcard (speicherkarte)

2577

iGO8

when i run AUTORUN in folder 2577 i get the error-message that i have to less memory, and the installation exits.

But i have 14GB free of memory!!

i have edited the sys.txt file to many variations, for example:

app="Speicherkart\iGO8"

app="Speicherkart/iGO8"

app="%Speicherkart%/iGO8"

app="%Speicherkart%\iGO8"

I have also renamed the folder igo8 in MobilNavigator, and i have renamed the igo8.exe in

MobileNavigator.exe too.

i tried to copy all tho the sdcard, and tried to install from there, but it doesnt work.

All what i got is the error-message i wrote at the beginning.

Hope somebody can help me with this problem..

The error message is referring to available device memory, not free memory on your storage card.

Using the 2577 Autorun installation, the iGO operating files are placed in device main memory amd it needs at least 7MB of free space; additionally iGO needs about 20MB free program memory to run, so if either of these is low, it could give the message you see. Also, iGO needs qute a lot of free system resources apart from free memory, and sometimes today screen and background applications do not leave enough resources for iGO to run.

How much free Program Memory and Storage Memory do you have?

Here are the Information about the Memory of my Omnia.

Datenspeicher ALL 86,21 MB FREE 6.56 MB (RAM/ROM??)

Programmspeicher ALL 97,27 FREE 52,37 MB (RAM/ROM)??

Speicherkarte SDCARD ALL 1879,75 FREE 228,19

Internal Memory ALL 15356 MB FREE 13696,75 MB

OK- your problem is with the available Storage Memory (Datenspeicher)- you only have 6.5MB free out of the 86MB available, so there is not enough space to install iGO.

That is a critically low figure, and you need to find what is taking all your memory. It could be a browser cache (do you use Pocket Internet Explorer? If so go Menu/Options/Memory and Delete Files to clear the cache); you may also have some large media files stored in My Documents, which should really be in your Internal Memory. Try and find these files and move them out of Program Memory.

thx for your answer,

i tried to free up more memory and i got up to 7.07MB free ram. After this, i tried to install Igo8 but i got the same error as i described at the top of my thread.!? B)(, thats really strange.

You still have far too little available memory. Normally you should have at least 10MB free storage memory, which means you need to have around 20MB free before installing iGO8.

I don't have an Omnia so don't know much about how it uses memory allocations, but we have had a lot of posts about low memory. You may need to search the forum for some advice.
