Hi All,

I've been browsing around the net and I can't find any answer to why my Omnia i900 would stop rotating the screen when I turn it from portrait to landscape. My 1st port of call was the orientation settings, but they are set to automatic and regardless of how high I set the sensitivity settings it still wont rotate. I've recalibrated the screen, but I don't believe this to be an issue with the touch response of the device.

The only settings I remember tweaking was in the power saving settings for Battery Power and External Power "Turn on backlight when a button is pressed or the screen is tapped"

Could there be something I've over looked??

Kind Regards

Meck

Are you using programs like: OmniaOrientation?

Nope ... well I'm using the one the phone ships with as standard, but I'm not sure what it is called.

Ok, try a program that uses the accelerometer, like a game or something and see if it works :excl:

If you are wondering about a game with accelerometer, you might want to try asphalt, the 25 mb version.

Yes, or better - try something smaller :excl: Like arkanoid or Kaisoft Bubble Level - it doesn`t matter :excl: Just to see if the accelerometer works :excl:

I've just been through the game section and it seems that Orange UK doesn't ship with many games. I'll have to do a search and get back to you.

The additional information for you guys to mull over is that I was issued the handset on Tuesday and after changing a few settings it seems to have shopped working; whether I'm using messaging (in which it worked perfectly) or browsing the internet.

I'm not sure if this additional info will help, but the handset is running the following:

WM6.1 Pro CE OS 5.2.20270 (Build 20270 1.3.1)

PDA i900XXH1/BVHH1

Phone i900BVHH1

Or what you can do is that you can assign a button for the screen to rotate. Go to Settings --> Personal --> Buttons. Assign anyone of the buttons with the function <Rotate screen>. And before doing that just switch Automatic rotation to Manual in the motion sensor menu. Just try that out and see if it rotates. It mostly should, but if it doesn't then there's something wrong with the phone's in-built accelerometer. You'd better get it check and replaced if you're in a contract if that happens. Manual screen rotation i.e. by pressing a button everytime is of course not half as cool as an auto-roate, but it does the job

Well, if he sets it to manual and it doesn`t rotate it`s not the accelerometer because it`s not used in manual - it`ll be software :excl:

Well I didn't manage to download any games, but I had to swap my handset out for today, as I was away from home and I don't have a Samsung in-car charger yet (I've got everything but :excl: ) and after about 12hrs of the phone been powered off with little or no battery left, I've just put it on charge and suddenly the auto rotation is working again ... weird :excl:

Well the issue is back now :excl: The only thing that I can link it with is device lock, as when that was applied I didn't check the handset again and it's the only thing to be applied, before I press the power button to turn the screen off. Having said that I could key lock my handset before and it work fine after unlocking it.

I just tried to download Teeter and Rapidshare said:

This file is neither allocated to a Premium Account, or a Collector's Account, and can therefore only be downloaded 10 times.

This limit is reached.

Right, it has been fixed:

Hey thought it'd be a good idea to start a thread on this as the omnia seems to have some weird bugs, things being affected by seemingly unrelated settings. So feel free to post your own bugs here, and confirmed fixes, and i'll try to update the top to keep things organized.

So to get things rolling....

Bug: Accelerometer suddenly stops working...

Fix: Go to Settings>System>Power>Battery power tab and tick the two check boxes.
