Guest Echew Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 Now that we have a base ROM to work with, I invite folks to talk about here... Several of you have already starting discussing it in some of the other threads.

Sector has a thread on here about one for the I900 and he said that if I provided him a ROM he should be able to adapt it to the I910 so I sent him the new ROM .Net 3.5 Live Search Google Maps The new version of messenger that can be found on mobile.microsoft.com Built in registry setting so the external GPS setting show up without having to hack it? Maybe a couple random games that are better than rolling a dice? Those arent important Is it possible to automagically integrate Mobile Shell?
Guest barnaby420 Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 Manilla2d would be nice in there flash lite 3.1 .net 3.5 don't think I'd want much more myself
Guest necosino Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 I think just a base ROM would be great. No bloatware, no added BS, just a base ROM that we can start from would be nice.

Guest Omega Ra Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 Perhaps a base ROM and one with apps preloaded?? yeah like advanced config 3.3 pre-loaded or s2u2 or something. Plus if someone can figure out a way to make widgets (like a shortcut to a program widget)
Guest cheifkeiff Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 *lite* m2d rom would be really cool maybe wm6.5 it looks cool
Guest WoZZeR999 Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 We can use FEWidgets (on xda) which looks like TouchWiz probably, if someone really wanted to have that. All of the i900 rom files and processes work good. I already made a M2D rom, but it's still buggy. I just made a Lite rom that I am planning to test when I get home. With my M2D rom, after removing a few things, I had ~68 megs of storage left.

Any suggestions on what to begin reading to learn about cooking?  I also have an old junker treo 700wx that could be my ginea pig lol.
Guest WoZZeR999 Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 Actually, since all I am doing is flashing the PDA(os) part of the phone, not the bootloader, I don't really have to worry about screwing it up. I am setting up a modified kitchen right now. All you should need is the beta img. The kitchen alone is about 100 megs with SztupY's automated part, about 15 if you want to remove stuff manually. I used parts of this guide to get where I am now.

 Am i missing something?

Am i missing something? I can probably give you some help through IM tomorrow or the weekend if you want. You should download SYOK and SYAKR (RC1). You then have to get the .nb0 file out with osnbtools, and rename to PDA.bin. Then run ExtractROM_Bin, and it should do the work for you. I can throw together a quick guide later, and find a place to host everything.

Guest pwmcmaho Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 Don't know if this is doable or not, but I would love to figure out how to remove that stupid zoom feature in messaging - you know, tapping the screen and the yellow zoom arrows pop-up. That is really annoying.... Would love to remove that. From what I have researched, the i900 does not have this "feature"... Thanks!

It does kind of suck in text, but can by nice on the internet :excl:
Guest WoZZeR999 Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 (edited) It could be 'zoomer'. I will get rid of it in my next test rom, and check to see if the zoom still happens with sms messages. Edit: I have a new rom waiting at home to be flashed. I will let you know later today. Edited April 9, 2009 by WoZZeR999
Guest aleis Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 SWEEEETTT!!! but darn! rom cooking means you should NOT customize your phone for a while :excl: cause once its two to three good rom cookers you will be changing your roms weekly easy! im going to sit around and watch as long as i can :excl: whoever gets 6.5 working has a $NICE$ donate coming from me! :excl:
Guest theidoctor.org Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 A good turn by turn voice navigation type software would be amazing to put in if you could... i know that takes up a lot of space though. +1 for winmo 6.5
Guest WoZZeR999 Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 Yeah, I'm gonna take a shot at 6.5 this weekend, it seems like it's gonna be a pain in the ass. As for voice nav software, I'm not going to include illegal software in the rom, so if you know of free voice nav software I can include that in. I will be flashing my ridiculously lite rom in about an hour, I'll let you know how that goes.
Guest WoZZeR999 Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 I have to do some testing, I get a 'Time Wizard' and 'Download agent' error at start up, but I have ~97 megs free after a hard reset.

Your way ahead of the curve. I'm sure you will get it figured out. :excl: I'm just starting to play to see what I can do.
Guest WoZZeR999 Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 (edited) Yeah, I figured it out. I forgot to get rid of a few .lnk files. It now starts without any problems. I may go through and see if I can delete a little bit more. BTW, that 97 megs is with CF3.5 (still have to get it to be default, that will be for later), the official Facebook program, java and a SD card tuner all cooked in. pwmcmaho: it looks like removing zoomer disables the weird zooming feature. BTW: Youtube flash works in opera after enabling flash. It's all zoomed in, so I don't know if that can be fixed, but flash is working. I'm also going to try to cook google maps(you still have to enable GPS manually for now). Edited April 9, 2009 by WoZZeR999

Where are you getting your OEMs from?
Guest WoZZeR999 Posted April 9, 2009 Report Posted April 9, 2009 Where are you getting your OEMs from? I'm creating them. SztupY has a cab2pkg program that I have been using. it doesn't seem to work for everything (S2U2, Total Commander *Shakes Fist*), but it seems to work for most.

I wonder if some of the old ones that I have (used them on my HTC devices) would work. I think I have a Total Commander. Let me go look.
