Guest necosino Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 Has anyone else encountered an issue putting new words in the XT9 "My Words" while typing a text or email? In the stock ROM it'd come up with "Add Word" and then switch to Tab (I use the KeyPad) and you'd be able to enter the new word, and upon hitting enter/space it would save the new word in to my words. Now in the CC20 ROM, it will select add word, then a box pops up to type it into but it disappears instantly.. Also, once in a while the keyboard will pop up the "XT9 Keyboard" but then when I tap in the text entry box, it changes back to (XT9 KeyPad) Weird.. Anyone else encountering this? Just checked My Words and they're all there... seems like it could just be a bug, since it's a BETA ROM after all..
Guest necosino Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 Can anyone even duplicate this? Maybe I should do a hard reset..
Guest kettigm Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 i haven't noticed the "my words" issue but i haven't had a chance to type a whole lot since flashing either. I have noticed the keyboard issue and spent alot of time searching today with no results. I noticed that if you go to Opera and try to type in the address line you can use the keypad (but i have seen it flash the keyboard first on occasion). if you try to type in the Opera search line below the address line it only shows the keyboard when the keypad is selected. i was considering a hard reset also.
Guest necosino Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 Ket, I get the same thing, too.. When I get home (Probably Sat. or Sun) I'm going to try to install a third party keyboard to see if that has any effect. I'm thinking its more of an input glitch than anything else.

I just tried it out and I have the same issue so its probably just an issue with the beta.

I just spent around an hour on the phone with verizon pressing them to reveal if its an official beta or if some dude just made it, as well as some technical questions. i have a few questions for you- 1) im assuming one of the main reasons you upgraded to this firmware was because it claimed to unlock gps functionality. thus, im guessing you have google maps. does your gps work? mine says seeking gps satellites and its not finding any. for the record, the dips at verizon thought that gps was never unlocked until i corrected them... ha. 2) does your weatherbug widget work? when i try to enter my city or a zipcode, it always says no search results. other than that, the firmware is pretty good. the new iphone-esque keyboard is a great addon. also, i think i may be in some advanced communications with a high ranked verizon supervisor. he asked me to send him a text message with the links to the sites where i downloaded the beta and to where i saw the letter confirming verizon was going to unlock gps. if anybody has any suggestions, relay them to me and i will be sure to let him know.

Also, do you know how to go back to the original rom, or know where i can find it?

The "dips" at Verizon wouldn't admit to the GPS being unlocked because the firmware isn't an official firmware. Also if you were on the phone with regular tech support they generally have very little knowledge of upcoming releases especially if it hasn't been officially announced. Anyway I've found that the first time Google Maps trys to find your location its best to be by outside or by a window in direct view of the sky. Another tip i found that was said to work was to zoom in on your current location. As for problems with the beta rom another issue ive found is when replying to a text message if i click the reply button on the bottom of the screen the keyboard doesnt type, but if i reply to a text message by clicking the actual message it works just fine.

Even with official release i am having same problems, got hooked on flashing but what i really want is a traditional phonepad (3 letters to a key). Been trying to install htc inputs but to no avail on all the roms ive flashed so far..... any suggestions?
