Guest Andy Brown Posted April 10, 2009 Report Posted April 10, 2009 (edited) Okay, I have the original Motorola Q with WM5 and I can't seem to find a Mini SD card that will play nice. The first one I had I thought wouldn't work because it was a generic, so I bought a 2GB SanDisk and now it's doing the same thing! At first the phone read the cards fine. Then - files started to randomly delete themselves - files turned into gibberish - phone would freeze when card was inserted - randomly won't let me delete files on card After all this I formatted the card on my computer and now the phone won't even see the card and my computer won't either. I've done a lot of searching and it seems like a lot of people are having this same problem, but I've not found any solutions. It seems like the Q is eating these cards and making them unreadable. Is this possible? Anyone know a fix? Edited April 10, 2009 by Andy Brown
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 Once a card is corrupt it can be fatal for for it. How did you format the card on the pc? hopefully it was to FAT. I have only seen corruption of cards when there has been a interruption in power. I would make sure you always keep the phone charged and do not let it it run down too far. If you do at a certain point the phone will stop reading the card to preseve battery life but when this happens it should be a controlled process. Another good measure which may help is to power off the phone before inseting/removing the storage card then power back on.
Guest Andy Brown Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 Yes, I used FAT. Just recently I heard that some people have had problems with the Q and SanDisk's "Ultra II" MiniSD and that is what mine is. Have you heard of that?
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted April 15, 2009 Report Posted April 15, 2009 not personally, normally Sandisk are the one brand I suggest people use as it is the most reliable. it may be worth contacting Sandisk with the issue and they may replace it under warranty.
