Guest davildee90 Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 I purchased an Omnia through Three (Hutchinson Telecom) in Australia. The previous version was PDA: i900MBHJ3/MBHJ3 PHONE: I900XXHJ1 Due to the relatively low battery life and etc, i decided to update the ROM on this thing. Looking at threads of other Australian forums, I noticed that the Singapore ROM worked best with Australian Omnias, however many people were having trouble updating to it. One of the users kindly psoted up a method of doing this, which was upgrading through Taril's method, and downgrading it to the official Singapore ROM. My first attempt at Taril's method failed, as I was foolish enough not to realise that the Samsung modem driver was a necessity in this process. After getting the Port Create retry (2) Port Create retry (1) Port Create retry (0) Download failed!! Message, I did some research, and downloaded the samsung modem driver and had another go. I was able to update the ROM this time, however, after completion, MY PHONE IS SLOW AS HELL. It seems like I'm running 10 programs at once... I'm scared to update it to the Singapore ROM yet. What did i do wrong??

Guest cirrus888 Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 Yes I found Tarils rom a little laggy too. Shokka's rom does feel faster. You can give that a try. I also successfully updated by downgrading the rom first before upgrading again. No need to fiddle about with silly preconfiguarions, registry editing or Hexdexing the updaters. I spent 2 weeks trying those methods and none worked. Downgrade then upgrade worked on my vista using VMware install and windows xp sp3. However VMware is only a trial version and I'm afraid I won't be able to upgrade of change roms in two weeks when the trial runs out. Spending 200 US$ for it is not not an option! Help!
Guest davildee90 Posted April 11, 2009 Report Posted April 11, 2009 Thank you so much for the quick reply guys!! But it seems that the Taril's is only slow straight after the upgrade... It seems smooth now I will definitely give other ROMs a look :excl: Again, thank you~

Install ROM Turn on Configure calibration and skip all the other bits Once windows has booted fully do a hard reset After that, things speed up completely
