Guest fascinus Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 Hi!!! Guys i'm new here and you have helped me out earlier. I want to buy a new phone. I've recently purchased the Omnia i900 and its very good. Unfortunately being a Techno Interested guy I wanted to also buy the HTC X7510 Advantage. I have seen, read and taken part in the reviews. I still wanted an honest opinion from you guys. Basically why i'm turning to you guys is because here people express themselves. That is why its important. I know its way to big than the average Xda's around in the market, not to mention its expensive. Please guys, help me out here.
Guest Neil5459 Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 You need to ask yourself 'why do I want this?' The X7510 is a very good miniPC and I have one (O2 Flint) as well as my HTC Diamond and an Advent 4213 netbook. For everyday reference reading (I use a lot of medical reference books), ebook reading, web browsing and video watching the 5"screen is excellent. For in-car use as a SatNav in a Brodit cradle, it excels as the screen is big enough to read, and quickly poke with a finger when needed. The 16GB Flash drive is big enough for most users. However by todays standards, the 624MHz processor driving such a big screen is a little sluggish. Also the ommission of the X7500's 'joystick' is a real retrograde step. As I carry a briefcase most of the time, the size is not an issue. My Diamond is used as my everyday phone, so the X7510 only handles phone calls via a BT headset in an emergency.
Guest fascinus Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 Hi!!! Thanks for the quick reply, I agree with you a 110%. Why do I need it? There's no real need. Its a fascination, a want!!!! not a Need!!! Need is to talk, I can do that with a simple phone.... Need has no comparable value, a want is associated with a heavy price tag - something like $700+ = Advantage. I Just love the piece, thats it. Just tell me whether you've faced any problems with the phone? If not, then I need to buy it. It'll take around 12 days for me to get it in India, but i'll get it.
Guest Neil5459 Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 I have had no problesm with mine apart from a digitiser that developed a mind of its own after 3 months needing the device replacing under warranty- but I thinks that's a rare occurrence and mine was a test device from O2 initially. It does all I ask of it; we could hope for a few more facilities like a higher resolution screen or a faster graphics performance, but keep within the envelope an its fine. The only real problem for me is the lack of a navigation device, which sometimes makes using programs awkward (for instance you can't scroll down a file list in resco explorer then leave the cursor on a file to do some operation- you have to use the screen, which may make the file open instead. Of course you could wait a few months and get HTCs replacement, called the Thoth :excl:
Guest krelvinaz Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 HTC Advantage phone discussion in the Samsung i9X0 topic forum ?? Shouldn't this be in the topic for HTC devices?
Guest Akshay_LP Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 I say, save it for OmniaHD. Save it, that, my friend, absolutely beautiful. A pinnacle of technology, the tech in X7510 is outdated, but the omniaHD with its WVGA resolution in a ****ing AMOLED screen will blow your brains. Also 32GB, 8MP Camera, and the rest of the standard stuff. The only thing is it runs Symbian, which isn't bad, but 'we' would obviously prefer WinMo, probably wm7 or wince 6.0. There are already rumours a winmo version is in the making. That phone is amazing and will trump anything right now.
Guest fascinus Posted April 14, 2009 Report Posted April 14, 2009 (edited) Hi!!! Guys I agree with you totally. I know this is really not a great period to Invest in anything. The HTC X7510 is expensive and the Onnia i8910 would totally rock.... I agree with you. But isn't having 1 Omnia enough? Also, my dealer wouldn't give me even 3/4 of the amount back. He's already giving me only 50% back. I'm sure he has a cut of his own on it anyway.... Besides the Advantage would also be out of Warranty since it's not going to be launched in India. Not fair actually... I really thought it'll be an awesome piece. Neil what do u think I should do? Akshay please fill in your views too man. Edited April 14, 2009 by fascinus
