Guest Omega Ra Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 I found this neat app... i will try it out later... Google Navigator Let me know how that works. I am liking IGO, but there seems to be a lack of POI in my area, I only really see european ones. Plus maybe the google one will take less space...

Guest necosino Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 Guys, POIs are totally free to download! Just do a search on google for iGO8 POI and you'll fine quite a few directories. Just download them, put them in your corresponding map folder, and you're good to go. :excl: I also think that some people have put together whole sets on torrent sites so that you dont need to download them individually.
Guest Omega Ra Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 maybe I'll check that out when I get home tonight. don't have a cable to connect my phone to my work comp..plus this comp sucks lol.
Guest Keri1983 Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 Hi! I found POI's for the US on post #29 http://www.gpsunderground.com/forums/showt...49956#post49956 It found my local bank and gas station! I created a folder under content, so it's \Storage Card\iGO8\content\poi and put the file in there. Does anyone know of a program that searches the web for constantly updated POI? That was what I used VZNavigator for. Their POI was immense and I always found what I was looking for. Thanks.
Guest Omega Ra Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 (edited) it says those are for magellan, not IGO Edited April 13, 2009 by Omega Ra
Guest Keri1983 Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 It says for Magellan but worked for me in igo. :-)
Guest Omega Ra Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 okay, I'll give it a shot when I get home later.
Guest badfrog Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 trial version is severely gimped... can't try driving directions, and $59 to register it?
Guest Tim-H Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 I don't like using pirated software that much as I get older but i mean come on you can buy a dedicated gps for as little as $100 now. What are these guys thinking?

Guest badfrog Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 that price is steep considering it is using FREE google maps as its base. I always had great luck with live search for turn by turn directions, but since a few releases ago the search function has been all messed up. can't find anything.
Guest phantomguy1 Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 Just wanted to share this. If it hasnt been said already. It gives you turn by turn directions in feet... not turn left on main st. Still a huge improvement over google maps and live search if you ask me. local search sucks unless youre overseas. but afterall it is for the i900 but it does work. amazegps.com to check it out. I will fully try it out tomorrow.
