Guest Enraged Ninja Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 I personally have been using PointUI and its nice in its own ways... I was using SPB when i first got my phone couple weeks back and i found it difficult to find themes for it. Any suggestions out there?
Guest Adrynalyne Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 You would laugh at me, but Samsung Today 2. Second place, M2D. Third place, SPB MS Fourth place, PointUI
Guest FerdiBorbon Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 PointUi works best for me, then M2d 3rd SPB Samsung normal widget.
Guest aceofrazgriz Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 never a big fan of m2d... LOVED PointUI Home 2 when i was using a sch-i760, not too much is dev'ed for wqvga so things look weird, often. I use the Widgets... got weather, tap clock for alarms, drag out calender/connection manager/etc and tab to launch, drag back when done, notification box pops up when i get a msg... Anything else i use often enough is 2 taps away thru the start menu. Love to customize, but some today progz are just so much more hassle than their worth imho.

I like the honeycomb but titanium is very plain
Guest DJRedLine Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 Quite liking Titanium, but customisation can be quite tricky at present. Big fan of SPB MS, and waiting on Version 3 Next would be M2D Then WAD
Guest Sunil Gangwani Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 I have used WAD, SPB, Touch Shell Pro but have not tried PointUI and M2D so far. Amongst the one's I have tried WAD 2 (with this theme) - extremely customizable which is what I like. Touch Shell pro SPB (more stable but less customizable, even with the themes), let's see what v3 has to offer.
Guest TheDrizzle Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 I've used Manilla2d, Throttle Launcher and PointUI Home2. I actually really liked Manilla2d, but it is just too much bloat and I was constantly running out of space on the "Device" partition. I tried ThrottleLauncher with the TF3D theme, but it was not anywhere close to Manilla. It was much more customizable and much easier to remove (only way to remove manilla is a hard reset), but it was clunkier and much less elegant then manilla. I did not try the other themes (iPhone, WM7, Andriod, BBStorm etc). Now I am on PointUI Home , and I am liking it the best so far. I have an i910, and now that we can have cooked roms with Manilla in it, and still have some space, I'm debating going back, but I'll give PointUI a bit more of a test run. have fun!
Guest emaN resU Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 You would laugh at me, but Samsung Today 2. Second place, M2D. Third place, SPB MS Fourth place, PointUI They'll have to laugh at me too! I feel exactly the same. Today 2 (... that's not boring, is it?)
Guest Amplificator Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 WAD 2 (with this theme) - extremely customizable which is what I like. Is there a WVGA version of that skin?
Guest Dblocker Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 (edited) Hey Adrynalyne I'm curious what you like specifically about Samsung Today 2? I kinda like the look of it; my big concern is whether I can tailor it at all? For example can I customize the list of apps in the launcher? I've been using M2D since going to Wozzer's ROM but not thrilled with it. Edit: not thrilled with M2D - LOVE the new ROM :-) Edited April 16, 2009 by Dblocker
Guest Adrynalyne Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 (edited) Its pretty basic. Gives you access to what you need, but is not an app launcher. Shortcuts are not customizable, unless you use something like VJBrisk. I link the home button at the top to Touch Commander. Quick, efficient, and to the point. Light on resources, too :excl: Edited April 16, 2009 by Adrynalyne

Guest rappetor Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 With WM6.1 I used the Samsung Today 2 Now with WM6.5 I use the standard Titanium, and I customized it a bit to have some sort of application launcher. WM6.5 really has everything I need all right there. I like the unlock slider and the way notifications end up there as well. Honeycomb took some time to get used to, but like that menu now as well. Used PointUI as well for some time (on WM6.1) and really liked it, but felt it just wasn't complete yet. Perhaps with more content created by users that improved a lot! (I hope so :excl:.
Guest balaams_ass Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 (edited) Winterface along with SMS-Chat and FunContact. Vito Technologies. Their customer service sucks big time but it's not that expensive so I took a shot and bought it. 14 day demoware available. http://vitotechnology.com/index.html The bundled Communication Suite makes the dollars easier to take. I tried M2D and it was okay but I liked the flexibility of Winterface. It is very iPodesq. Edited April 16, 2009 by balaams_ass

Guest ailboles Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 Ones that I've tried -- Manila 2D, Point UI, and SPB mobile shell I think out of all of them, I liked Manila 2D the best, but as someone else pointed out it's a bit bloated in terms of the amount of device storage it uses. While yes, I can install the new cooked rom to solve that problem, but seeing as how they're apparently going to release the official rom very shortly I'm just going to wait so that they can't brick my phone with the firmware update. Once the new official rom comes out I'm probably going to put M2D back on. Point UI was OK. It did some things really well, and other things not so well. It was a breeze to install, and some of the themes were great. Overall, it just didn't feel as useful of a UI as M2D for what I use my phone for. Until the new official i910 rom comes out, I think I'll probably just be using Samsung widgets
Guest jhickey Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 I've tried M2D, iFonz, Winterface, SPB Mobile Shell, PointUI, WAD (very briefly), and of course the standard today screens that come with the Omnia...After trying everything, my heart belongs to M2D. After I used it for a while and switched to other today screens, I always found myself wanting to go back to it. As previously mentioned, it may take a bit of device memory, but it's worth it for me.
Guest 3shirts Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 SPB Mobile Shell 3 is just out and it is completely beautiful! Slick and smooth and really customisable!
