Guest AngusATAT Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 My wife just called me at work to let me know my new Omnia just arrived via FedEx. I've got a few hours left to work, and am seriously considering becoming very ill in the next few minutes so I can go home and play with my new tech toy. I'm such a geek... I've been reading these forums for nearly a month (I think), and plan to spend the evening doing all the things to my Omnia that I've learned from helpful folks like you. Thanks for all the info!
Guest Adrynalyne Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 Happy sick leave or whatever. :excl: Sweet. Lets see if we can brick that sucker! Kidding...or am I? :excl:

Guest meabigbaldguy Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 Oh, man... Verizon! I'm sorry!
Guest AngusATAT Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 Oh, man... Verizon! I'm sorry! Meh, could be worse. I could have an iPhone on AT&T.... and have absolutely no signal at my house. At least I can make a phone call at the house with Verizon... if I stand on the back porch with one hand in the air to boost the signal. :excl:

LOL. I remember that feeling. (Then again, I have that same feeling about everything I buy on its launch day.) My last "sick' day was for my Omnia too. Just tell them you have an emergency at home and need to have the rest of the day off. That works, and it doesnt raise too many alarms.

I heard it makes that "Can you hear me now" guy and his entire network buddies work much harder." :excl:

Guest aceofrazgriz Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 (edited) Will do.... all while watching Serenity that I ripped from a DVD last night. :excl: good call, i got a 720P rip no long ago, buddy is working on ripping the series in 720P also. i got lucky, the day my omnia arrived, i had the day off :excl: Upgraded thru Verizon (old pricing, so free) and they do FREE overnight shipping if you upgrade/purchase online. one of the few good things they have going for em. Guest AngusATAT Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 Ugh. Not sure what I did wrong, but my Serenity rip looked pretty grainy on my Omnia. I'm sure I screwed up some setting somewhere. On the upside, I got to play with my new Omnia all night. I drained the heck out of my battery. Gonna let it charge overnight and see how long it lasts tomorrow. Also, I need to figure out how to uninstall some apps I installed. Something is giving me error notifications like there is no tomorrow. Not sure which app is causing it. All I installed was FlashLite 3.1, ClearTemp 1.1, Nitrogen 3.2, and X-Button 1.5. My Omnia doesn't seem to like one of them.
Guest Nagilem Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 :excl: Please don't speak that into being. I'm already looking at Wozzer's cooked ROM and thinking about taking the plunge. AngusATAT - Go for the new roms, I had no issues with following the instructions and updating to Wozzer's rom.
Guest yojoe600 Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 nothing wrong with a verizon omnia now that we have roms
Guest DeepBlueEditor Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 All I installed was FlashLite 3.1 I hear that's not copmpatible with the widget menu. That's likely the culprit. S
Guest Adrynalyne Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 I hear that's not copmpatible with the widget menu. That's likely the culprit. S Unless you are using the new rom, where the widgets are adapted to FL 3.1.
Guest AngusATAT Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 Well, I managed to figure out how to uninstall those programs, so that issue is gone. I installed the new SPB Mobile Shell late last night, and am loving it. I'll most likely try to flash the new ROM tonight. Hope I don't end up with a shiny new brick. :excl: Now I need to look around and try and find something to back up my contacts before I flash this baby...
Guest maf107ezk0 Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 Good luck with the flashing - just follow the instructions and it`ll be OK (hopefully) :excl:
Guest AngusATAT Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 And yet another success story. Garmin Mobile XT now works on my Omnia! :excl:
Guest Turborepu Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 grats! hope you enjoy the phone. have fun using it.
Guest Turborepu Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 (edited) eek double post. i will add more thoughts.. in the first two days after getting my omnia i had spent over $100 on additional software. mostly ui stuff... cuz i like to tinker... then i realized that maybe id use the phone as samsung intended while i got used to it. so i did that for a few days to what apps/shortcuts i used alot.. eventually i switched it up and have been using ms2 and wad2 here and there.. till ms3 yesterday of course. it has a nice mix of flexibility and usability.. sadly my phone needs to be replaced due to a screen issue.. but happy days will follow when i take it in because i will have a new omnia again.. Garmin Mobile XT now works on my Omnia! :excl: It's a little late now but PPCPimBackup is a great little backup for contacts, call logs, ringtones, etc. SPB Backup and Sprite Backup both have a Restore to new ROM or Restore to new Device (handy when the new ROM affects both the device and PDA). Resco Backup is another one. Find a good comparison of the three here. Pim Backup is an executable; create a shortcut to it for ease of use. It did everything I needed it to. I like to reinstall when flashing. For me it's usually a good time for a hard reset anyway. Ted
Guest w1ld1c3 Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 Hmmm... sounds familliar... hahaha...
