Hi everyone,

Found somewhere a link to Spb mobile shell 3 which many are still waiting for, so decided to share.(hope I be the first one sharing :-s )

the link is http://softspb.com/ext/mobileshell/6362-DF...hell3_setup.exe (from the official website)

This is a mirror to the latest release of the application.(This is not a cracked or illegal version. just the exact copy of the direct link which is removed now from spb website):

http://rapidshare.com/files/222279696/SpbM...hell3_setup.exe

or if you want to install directly, here you are(.cab): http://rapidshare.com/files/222223065/SpbMobileShell.cab

Its not yet listed in their website, but its as much as I know either the final version or the last rc version. so, as much as I know its stable.

Try and tell me if you got into a problem. Although try at your own risk as always :excl:

Cheers... :excl:

[edit]: mirrors added.(mirrors are legal trial copies. exactly what spb released for public test.)

You cant run the .exe from your phone, you need to install the exe from your computer to your phone using usb cable!

I've loaded it and spent the last few hours going through it. Here are my opinion based on observations.

What I liked

- Flow of the interface is great. Navigation through the menus is terrific.

- Both the carousel and tile views are a little too busy, but simplify navigation through the many screens nonetheless.

- WinMo "Start" button and taskbar are present throughout the shell - fantastic!!!

- Lifestyle home screen is completely customizable.

- Language support for a bunch of languages! Don't ask me which, but they're there.

- Menu options for each screen is available.

- SPB Widget support available for the lifestyle screen.

- Calendar display options are available.

- Personal wallpaper photos can be added to one of the two homescreens

- There is a separate Favorites screen with it's own dedicated launcher button. In fact, the launcher button defaults to the Favorite screen.

- So far the amount of programs that you can add to Favorites is unlimited. Perhaps it was also this way with v.2, but I never bothered to find out.

- Finger scrolling is nice and smooth. Accurate too!

- Phone log is added with call information.

- There is a Favorite Contacts page, with carousel view, dedicated ringtone selection for individual contacts, picture cropping.

- Facebook app for Favorite Contacts

- Main contacts page can be edited for layout, text, and photosize.

- Agenda View screen available with customizable format

What I don't like...

- Main Menu buttons don't seem to be customizable anymore. I couldn't add anything to the Tools, Organizer, or Multimedia Links; however, I suppose this is why the FAVORITES page was added.

- The Now screen overrides the function of the Today button on the right side of the phone. If you use this button to return to Today, then pressing it will only return you to Now. In the Now menu, there is a separate button that does go to Today, but it is only in the Now screen.

- Seems to slow the PDA a bit during boot up, but it's liveable - in my opinion.

Overall I like it. I think it is a significant improvement upon v. 2. Those of you who also use the iMarche skins with v.2 may also want to give this a looksie as well. I think that SPB took some hints from the skins developer because there is definitely much more life to v. 3. I think that this does a good job at satisfying both the professional and casual effects at the same time.

That's because it's an .exe which means that it needs to be installed from your PC via Active Sync. Only .cab extensions can be installed and executed on Winmo devices without the use of Active Sync.

Anyone, care to inform our friend here on how to hard reset the phone?

For now, try removing the battery for a moment or two, reinstall, and then try to reboot.

I had to say that it is better overall because of its cube UI which is a borrow from the new S class LG phone, and its lifestyle home page, also the cool 4-way functional pages in both landscape and portrait (not sure it can flip or rotate vertically, so far only sliding).

Note that the touch response (press and drag) is better and the wallpaper background moves along transparently (not 1:1 ratio which is nice) with the icons, like the G1 phone (called "panning"), so don't complain why it is not fit 240x400 (some might like it the "old" fashion way: static background image).

If it has more beautiful home page wallpaper images then I am happier but so far so good. It takes a bit of getting used to its dynamic UI from the static v2 which becomes boring for me.

Definitely a worth.
