Guest inite Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 Going to do a hard reset with the 'soft reset button' + send and end call key method. I heard this way it doesnt formats the 8/16gb stuffs and sd card. Im assuming my contacts and everything else will be formated? If so, is there a good program to save those critical files? Mainly contacts and sms i guess.
Guest maf107ezk0 Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 Well, for the contacts and SMS, you can just save them to the SIM card :excl: If not, PIM Backup is a good app :excl:
Guest Sinaaa Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 Your internal memory(the one with the total of about 100mb). your 8/16gb one won't be formated using the call/end button. but for firmware update, don't forget to backup every single byte :excl: I used sprite and spb backup. both restored my phone to previous condition as promissed. Although, SPB failed to return my phone fully to the previous condition...
Guest inite Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 I think i can only save up to 50 contacts in the SIM card =/ After hard reset, what can spb backup do? Cos all the applications would be gone, past settings wouldnt have any effect on the phone now, no? What are the critical files which everyone normally saves before reformating? I've used Jeyo Mobile Companion 2.0 to save my sms and contacts, which saves them in the xml format, not sure if it actually works. Dont want to realise it only after hard reset, and both sms and contacts doesnt load up.
Guest yojoe600 Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 sp backup can back up every thing on your phone
Guest Itlooksfast Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 Wouldnt you have to install SPB Backup again in order to get the backed up data into the phone? When I did mine I can see the backed up files but I never really have to back it up yet so im kinda curious too...So after you do a hard reset and you want to put the files back into the phone, what do you have to do? I mean I would install SPB BACKUP again and just RESTORE FILES.
Guest inite Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 Ya, i would figure you would have to install spb backup before executing the backup file. No luck so far? What files did you try backing up? Apart from sms and contacts possibly.
Guest Broda Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 Use Microsoft Outlook inside the Microsoft Office 2007 application, then syncronize all your contacts, task, Favority Mobiles links, emails, notes and your personal files like videos, photos, sounds etc... Unplug the Omnia from USB cable After that, just hardreset your Omnia and wait the phone back online again and ready for use Connect your Phone in to your PC again using the USB Cable (windows will detected as a new Device), just follow the instructions and will syncronize automactly all your files PS: The SMS messsges will be lost, microfot outllok just syncronize the Email messages, so use other applications to backup the SMS messages
Guest inite Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 I just tried that, but my MS outlook 2007 doesnt seem to be syncing with my phone. Any configuration i missed out? Im assuming you meant by syncing those items with MS outlook, all my important datas will be kept on my PC, and after the hard reset, the items on my PC will be synced from my PC to my HP. Cos im not sure if by syncing its normally done with HP syncing with PC rather than the other way round.
Guest meabigbaldguy Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 Sprite Backup!!! It will restore EVERYTHING, and you don't need it installed onto your phone for a restore.
Guest inite Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 Hmm, ok, i'll google up and check it out. Btw, i was told constant hard-reset deteriorates the performance of the phone. It would mean once you have done it, you'll constantly need to do it. Is there any truth to it?

Lot's of ppl have hard resetted their phones plenty of times due to ROM testing and stuff like that.. so it should be fairly safe.. i've done it a few times myself, and my phone performs just like new...:excl:

Spite Backup makes Executable backup files so all you need is to start them with File Explorer. I wonder is SPB BU has a similar option as they compete heavily. Ron...
Guest inite Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Thanks. I've tried Spite Backup, really comprehensive, especially since its executable without installing back the application.
