Has anyone with an i910 (or i900 for that matter) had a problem with the phone not connecting to a call until 3 or 4 seconds after pressing the Answer Key (either hard or soft key)? Sometimes when I press Answer it seems like its loading, and then shows Connected finally after I've said "hello" like 3 times. I have the stock ROM, the simple dialer (registry edit to disable Samsung dialer), SPB MS 2.1.5, and S2U2. But this problem has been around since day 1 when I had stock everything. Does anyone think a new dialer/contact manager could speed this up? I'm considering trying Resco CM or some other to see if it helps. Thanks.

Was messing around in my setting today. Came across this, might want to give it a try if this really bothers you. It might help.

Main menu/settings/phone/services tab

Select voice privacy, change settings. Select the off radio button.

The description is kind of what you are talking about.

I had voice privacy enabled, so I disabled it. I've only received a few calls so far (including some test calls from my work phone), but so far so good. I also researched it a bit and there's not much floating around on windows mobile voice privacy. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks for the tip.

Well bummer. Disabling voice privacy did not remedy the answering delay. However I did notice that the delay is much more noticeable if I'm running another program such as Opera when a call comes in. I wonder if it's just the way it is with the limited processing power of the device switching programs.

Hello,

I have this issue as well and I have upgraded to the new rom. I did not notice it before when I had the Bluetooth disabled though. Maybe that has impact? I am going to try the voice privacy setting and see if that helps.

Update: The Voice Privacy option did not help mine but disabling the bluetooth did wonders. It seems when I have the bluetooth enabled with or without headset connected it delays my answering on the phone.

That's a good find ovrtn, I may try that. I really like having my bluetooth on all the time (receive incoming beams disabled unless needed though) so I can just connect my headset when getting in the car. It looks like I'll have to trade either answer delay or bluetooth convenience. Let me know if you still see delay with bluetooth off. Have you (or anyone) tried answering a call with other programs like Opera running? Is there a delay? I'm hoping to get to the bottom this still, and maybe even see if there is some bluetooth reg setting that will speed this up.

I'm still getting this delay, with bluetooth on and off. Someone else in another forum just posted on the same issue with the i910, so it looks like others are seeing this too. Anyone else seen this or have a fix for it? Maybe a custom dialer? I still have the stock i910 rom running MS3 and S2U2. Uninstalling MS3 and S2U2 didn't help and I'm pretty sure the delay has been there before then anyways. My last last resort is a hard reset, so please don't advise that, I know it's an option!

for what it's worth, me too.

had it with stock rom. still have it with cc20. had it with and without mobile shell 2 and 3. bluetooth settings don't affect it, having no other running apps (except ms3) doen't affect it. the real kicker is sometimes it just doesn't happen - sometimes i hit answer and it works right away.

Yeah, I guess that's the case for me too. There are times when it just answers right away, but there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it. It's a bummer to hear that other ROMs don't seem to help. I thought I read somewhere about the phone switching between EV and 1X in order to answer a phone call since it doesn't use EV for voice, but I'm not sure about that one. I think someone claimed that this switch time could be the issue? Does anyone buy that? I guess we could always disable EV for a day and see what happens with calls (I thought that could be done somehow but haven't looked into it). I'm all ears...

Is this problem solely with the i910?

I have a 910 and experience the same random laggy pick-ups, trying the Voice Privacy as I've tried everything else.

FWIW--this is the reason I like wm 6.5.

No delay on my i910 when answering calls.

Also--eye candy or not, those fullscreen caller ID apps can and will slow down your response time when answering.

Adrynalyne, thanks for the input on WM 6.5. Did you ever notice delays before WM 6.5 or with any other ROM on your i910? I don't have any caller ID apps, I have the default caller ID screen (I have S2U2, but call ID disabled). I'll look into a 6.5 update, although I was still hanging on to the slim chance of an official update from VZW (looking more like a longshot each day)...

eufouria, I believe it's only with the 910 as I've seen postings on this problem in multiple omnia forums but never for the 900. Can't say for sure but it i900 users had the problem it would be all over the place.

Yes, I always had the delay with 6.1, with the default rom, cc20, and my cooked ones.

I guess now the question is "Do any i910 VZW users NOT have the delay at all?" For those lucky folks, what are they using (aside from WM 6.5 ROM which seems to help) as far as ROMs, apps, call ID, etc. Anyone with no delay?

yes! to muddy the waters even further, for the past few days i've had pretty much no delay at all. including AFTER installing s2u2 with it's caller-id. the only thing that i can think might have made a difference is opening up the task manager and cancelling out of activesync (the phone wasn't connected to anything, so why does it need to run?) try ending the activesync process and see if that makes a difference.

now if only i could figure out why my "call end" button won't end the call until after i wake the screen up with the power button.

I'm running bga7x's 6/5 base ROM running Titanium and WkTask with Powerlock locking to the 6.5 lock screen during calls and after I hit the power button to suspend.

Also running Resco Contact Manager but all settings related to the dialer are disabled.

ikediggety, good idea. I just found a post the other day on ppcgeeks that shows how to disable activesync from turning on automatically (deleting an entry in the notification queue) and only turn on when connecting the USB cable. Unfortunately for me, that didn't seem to help. I'm still digging...

euforia, I take it you still get the delays with your setup? Or is that a ROM you just put on?

Could you please link to that thread?

I noticed enabling the lock screen before a call comes in cut a couple seconds into the call, I guess for the lock to load, so I've disabled that.

But I need to test for another day or two to see if the problem still arises.

My apologies, the link was not on ppc geeks, but I did find it again. I only ran the part on the Omnia (where you remove a notification queue entry), not the Windows part. I've been runnning a few days and haven't seen activesync come up, so that's a good sign. I still can successfully sync when I connect the USB cable, so all is well. My delay is still there though...

Something odd I noticed yesterday, my task manager showed 3 "Phone" programs running that I was unable to close and did not show up in the Windows Mobile Task Manager...

Still getting delays, going to try the ActiveSync fix giant 25 posted.

I read on another forum that the CF03 update resolved the delay issue. I'm still on CC20 and doubted that anything like that was put into CF03, but I wanted to see if anyone else has noticed. I guess I could flash to CF03, but was hoping someone else had already done so and could report their findings. Anyone?

I had the same delay issue with the origional ROM as well. I tried all of the tips and tricks to no avail. I recently updated to CF03 from VZW. I still had several issues after the upgrade, so I decided to do a hard reset. The good news is the GPS started working and the delay went away. I do have S2U and SPB Shell 3 running. The delay has gone away!!!

I would reccomend to all that before you run the VZW update tool, copy your stuff to the SD card and remove it. After you install the update, do a hard reset before you waste your time restoring your contacts and software.
