Guest FireChild666 Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 (edited) Hey there peeps, how's it going? I have a samsung Omnia and I recently broke the screen on it. I have been trying to recover and save the messages on it before I send it away to get repaired or replaced. The problem is that I have a phone password on which I I can't seem to input correctly, weather it be the screen is too damaged or I am not pressing the correct screen positions. I am running Vista on my PC with the Sync Center and this does not require the phone to be unlocked before syncing. So then I try to find ways of downloading the SMS's, the only obvious way seems to be to use "Jeyo Mobile Extender". So I have downloaded that then attempted to install it, for what ever reason it will not install. (when I run the program you can see it in the windows bar and then it disappears about 30 seconds later). I have read up on the Jeyo and other websites that other users did not seem to have a problem with the Vista OS? So then I set up an XP os with Office Outlook 2003 and ActiveSync 4.5, Jeyo installed fine. Then I connect the phone and Active Sync says that it can not connect to the phone as it is locked.........Dammit Any suggestions guys? Or have I lost my precious messages? Guest awarner (MVP) Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 What about trying SpriteBackup with vista if it can connect without haveing to re-enter the password. I presume you are getting a replacement unit so you would then be able to restore back to the new device.
Guest FireChild666 Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 Naaa, that's not going to work. That would need me to install the software on to my device which obviously I can not do.

Guest meabigbaldguy Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 (edited) Look into Spritebackup again. It will install directly onto your PC without having to install onto the device. One of the features that they tout is the ability to restore to a different WinMo device, without having the program installed onto the device. They do this via different merge levels built into the program. I use it myself, and though I've never encountered a situation such as yours, I do use it when I flash new ROMS. You can try it free for 10 days so what's there to lose anyway? Edited April 18, 2009 by meabigbaldguy
