I used to be able to tap on the "X" and it would close the window. Now after a few realignments it seems to have moved over down and to the right of the "X" and I have to use a sideways fingernail on the black border of the phone for it to recognize the "CLOSE" command. Ive done the aligments several times and to no avail they just loop me back over and over to the screen - one night I went for 2 hours tapping the crosshairs without any success (had just just give up and let it timeout to get back to main scren). I tried changing the calibration data I found on a different post/thred here and it fixed a few widget alignment issues but now when I touch the "X" i get the popup for either the volume control and sometimes even the network connectivity menu bubble; it seems as though all the top right menu bar commands have shifted extremely to the right. I dont know if this is a calibration issue or hardware failure. The phone is not broken, never been dropped, screen has protective cover and all other items/buttons have successful/correct/accurate responses when I touch other areas of this screen - its just the upper right corner or the screen giving me grief. I could just accept it and get used to it but the phone was too much $$ to have it not function properly.

Does anyone have suggestions I could try to remedy this response/screen issue? The phone is being used in the US on ATT network but came from China/Phillipines so Im pretty sure Samsung USA wont offer me any warranty assistance, if in fact it is a hardware issue. I just hope Im not SOL. Someone HELP!! Thanks

the old/original calibration data i had was 495,495 140,841, 235,161 906,133 760,861

the new/current data is 519,503 177,881 182,129 847,127 849,872

I have the same problem. It seems like the right side of the touchscreen doesn't function although the coordinates of the screen alighment are ok.

i installed new rom with WM6.5 and the problem remains present. The screen calibration application keeps cycling and new coordinates don't have any effect. Please help!

Is the problem in bios or in kernel?? I don't know where to look! As i have installed new ROM, i have a serious issue because i can't confirm any chanes and can't even personalize my phone.

Anny comment or help is wanted :excl:

Hi there again!

I tried the #0*# diagnostic tool. It shows how much of the screen is unalinghed.

Here are my screenshots:

Can you confirm something with pressing buttons instead of pressing the upper right corner?? That would be very useful.

You can go into settings and asign the right key to <ok/close>. that is how i have mine setup.

start/settings/personal/buttons and change from there.

I had exact same problem for weeks. I even got the Camera button to do the Ok/Close function until I took it to the service centre, who then found the screen to be faulty and replaced it in 1 day in Hong Kong. Thank god I have warranty! If you don't have warranty, then go to the settings and select the Camera button to close. Your camera will still work because it requires it to be pressed for a while. Good luck!

So I just used the "wholesaleandy" method off Ebay and here on Modaco to replace the defective digitizer on my Omnia and while I had to go very slowly in taking the phone apart and then when reassembling it, this method actually works! If anybody else has issues like mine, I would reccomend replacing the screen. It only cost me $24 for all the necessary parts/materials (provided by wholesaleandy via ebay).

if the opposite corner of the screen works you could just flip your phone upside down.. lol.. i am wondering if i can get a new digitizer for my phone off ebay.. but i will probably take it back to verizon and get it replaced.. but its still good to know i can get a replacement.

I'm not convinced the problem is the touch screen. Mine worked OK before the ROM update but now I can't get the screen calibration to work. I have the same problem as others where the calibration plays in a loop and I have to soft reset to get out of it. Has anyone with this particular problem been able to fix it with a screen replacement? Perhaps I do have the old version and the new leaked ROM only works on the new hardware. I got my Omnia i910 in August of 2008 so it's pretty old. My hope is that when the official Verizon ROM is released I can flash that and then take it in for a replacement/screen upgrade. For the record I have tried tons of different calibration data settings in the registry and nothing makes a difference. Luckily my screen is off to the low side so I can still hit the X/OK but I have to click about a 1/4" low.
