Guest dwallersv Posted April 19, 2009 Report Posted April 19, 2009 If you are a major customizer like me and install lots of stuff, this will help you recover a fair bit of main storage memory. If you're using M2D, you're probably running low all the time. Simple: The installation data needed for uninstall takes a fair bit of space. When added up for a few dozen apps, it runs into megabytes. So... Create a folder in My Storage (or your storage card) called Windows, then create a folder in there called AppMgr. Move the entire contents of \Windows\AppMgr to \My Storage\Windows\AppMgr. DO NOT SIMPLY DELETE THIS DATA!! Doing so will make it impossible to automatically remove installed apps from Settings->System->Remove Programs. For me, this saves 2.5MB, not chump change. Every MB counts. If you do this, you have to remember to move back the specific folder for any app that you want to remove with the Remove Apps cpl tool. Don't worry... if you forget, WM will remind you by failing the uninstall. Simply move the folder over to \Windows\AppMgr, and try again... it will uninstall normally. I have a habit of moving these install folders every time I install something now. It would be nice if we could redirect the location of the AppMgr folder with a reg key, but I can't find anything.
