Did you install the new rom? If you didn't, your GPS is locked and will not work with any navigation software.

I installed this and it pretty much broke GPS. None of the other GPS programs installed would work anymore. After uninstalling it everything worked again.

I don't suggest installing this on your Omnia; the interface sucks anyway. Garmin Mobile XT is infinitely better (an actaully works).

My i910 is currently loaded with new ROM.

Both Google map and iGO8 are working fine with GPS locked within a minutes.

When I try on iGuidance 2009, the map is working fine but I can't lock the GPS. Does anyone know how to fix this locking issue on iguidance 2009?

I have an i910 and i use iguidance 2009 and I got it working.

Here is how.

Software you need in addition to iguidance:

GPS Toggle from BAF

GpsGate

Both software work as today screen plugins so you need access to your today screen.

GPS Toggle - used to turn the gps ON. Iguidance (unlike most other software) will not do this on its own. So if you just launch iguidance your gps will still be off. This software will turn it on and then start looking for locks.

GpsGate - used to collect the gps data and create a virtual com port for iguidance to use in creating map data. While GPS Toggle turns the gps on, the data is still not available to iguidance yet. GpsGate will create a com port and traffic the gps data to that port. Then you would go into iguidance and tell it which com port to use (the one that GpsGate is directing gps info to).

Basic instructions after installing software

1. Go to today screen and tap "GPS off" to turn it on

2. Go to programs and start GpsGate. Nothing will seem to happen.

3. Go to today screen and look for a symbol at bottom right above soft keys.

4. Tap the icon and go to settings. Select the appropriate hardware input in input tab (should be com 3)

5. Go to output tab and from drop down list select "Virtual COM Port" and hit add.

6. Pick a com port to use. I use com 8 and it works fine. This is the port that you will tell iguidance to use later.

7. You should see you should see your chosen com port in the Active output list

8. Go back to the Input tab and with com3 (or whatever your hardware port is) selected hit Open.

9. Hit Ok at the top right to close GpsGate

10. Start iguidance.

11. Go to gps options and set your com port to the same as in #6

12. Set your baud rate to the appropriate number (4800 works for me).

13. The icon should turn yellow (connected to gps but no satellites), then green (connected to sat).

DONE!

When you are done be sure to turn both GPS Toggle OFF and set Gps Gate to Close or else the gps will still be on and kill your battery.

This will cause iguidance to function and can be used with any other gps software having problems. It is a little annoying that iguidance doesn't have this build in but I still like this software more than iGO.

Let me know if you need more help.

Disciplined, thank you very much for your detail instruction and the link, my iGuidance 2009 is working now :excl:

I have a quick question, is there any way to set the phone to always ON because when I run iG2009, it run for about 1 minute and the phone go to sleeping mode (screen turn OFF).

Disciplined, Thanks again for your help.

Seems like a lot of trouble just to run a lame GPS program. The interface looks likes it's from 1999 not 2009.Key, I suggest you give Garmin XT a try.

No problem, glad you have it up and running.

As for the device going on standby, I am still working on that. One really laborious way (as if it wasn't laborious enough already) is to go to settings/system/power and set it so it doesn't go off or it stays on longer. I don't really like having to do this all the time so I am trying to see if S2U2 can do the trick for me by creating an exception for iguidance. S2U2C is a program that makes this task easier, but I am still testing it out. Other then that a (Mort)script would be needed that would automate the whole process.

This is interesting... I had iGuidance working great on my HTC Titan, never required GPSgate or Toggle or anything else to "prime" the GPS. Now on the Omnia, it's not working, even if I do prime it with Google Maps or VisualGPSce or something else. When I tell iGuidance to scan for the GPS port, it finds COM8/4800 no problem...
