Guest pirate266 Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 Hello everyone, I flashed my Omnia with the new ROM and GPS still wont work! I have installed GPS Gate and Igo 8 with no results. I set the com port to 8 and the baud to 57600 and it says It is connected to the receiver. However, when I let it sit under the sky for an hour it still said waiting for GPS signal. Am I doign something wrong?

Guest blazingwolf Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 Did you go outside and wait for 10 to 15 minutes? The first lock can take awhile. Make sure you have a clear view of the sky.

Yep, I put it out in my backyard and just let it sit there. Every time I came out it said it couldn't get a signal or the signal was weak. I wont have to reflash will I? :excl:
Guest necosino Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 Pirate, what program are you using? I had really mixed results with GoogleMaps and LiveSearch, but always had great luck with iGO8/Amigo and TT7
Guest blazingwolf Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 Sounds like you are in a bad signal area. See if you can go somewhere else and get a signal.
Guest roboticguru Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 Stupid question: Did you do a soft start after turning Location On. It usually prompts at start up a warning about 3rd party apps and using GPS or some BS.

Guest monopoliser Posted September 12, 2009 Report Posted September 12, 2009 Try using PortSplitter Install PortSplitter. Set the Windows Mobile settings to program: COM8, hardware: COM9 and baud 9600. (I'm in Australia and I found that was the best baud rate for me) In PortSplitter, set input to COM8: (type it in) and output to COM6:. Then ADD the output port by pressing the ADD button. Check the AUTOSTART function and press START SPLITTER. This will start automatically whenever you open the application on a later time. Then start iGO8, set other nmea gps (integrated gps) to baudrate 9600 and point at COM6:. That's all. It always works (even without soft reset) and the fix is there within 1 minute.
Guest hakan.ergen Posted September 12, 2009 Report Posted September 12, 2009 (edited) Hi, I am new on this site but I might help you, maybe. Why don't you try to select port 3 for hardware and port 9 / baud rate 4800 for software respectively on the external gps settings? This might solve your problem...
