Touch HD Screen size

I have been using my touch HD for 4 months and extremely happy with it and I must say the 3.8 screen size is the most usable screen I have encountered on mobile device. The new diamond2 has a 3.2 inch screen. the apple 3.5 but I don't think I can give up 3.8 inches of screen. The touch HD replacement rumoured this year will only have 3.6 why? I really hope htc keep developing new ROMs for the HD particularly the new touch 3D as seen on the htc diamond2, with the same 528Hz processor I don't see why the HD can't handle the new rom and or 6.5(wishful thinking)

If htc bring out the touch HD successor with a smaller screen I for one will avoid it and look elsewhere
