Guest ECRodent Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 Wondering if there are any free E-mail services that will pull from an imap account? Crappy pocket outlook gives me an error 80%(pulls headers, then says error syncing - or it just says error syncing...they are *nix boxes ) of the time when connecting to my servers to pull email. Heck even a free app i can install on the server to pull the email might work too. Thanks!

Guest phantomguy1 Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 not sure of any, the only email service i know of is flexmail There is Gmail (gmail.com) that pulls from an imap server (really good). and also Yahoo! Mail (mail.yahoo.com) that pulls from an imap server. If you use your omnia to get the settings, it takes a little bit for a first sync (up to 2 minutes) but after that, youre good. If you get the pop settings...... good luck with it working. But it should automatically pull the imap settings. All free for life... both have 1gb of storage.
Guest thenameless Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 Don't know if it will help you, but the only way I could get my gmail accounts setup and working on my Saga or Omnia was to use Emoze. It's free push email AND gets IMAP working with poutlook. Not sure if that will help you.
Guest thescope Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 yup i use EMOZE.com There is another one but i forgot it name.. red something.. sorryz
Guest evil Homer 3k Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 Try Seven. (http://community.seven.com) Been using it for about 3 months with with no real problems. Supports all branded email services and allows imap and pop connectors to email servers such as domino and exchange. Its beta at the moment, but there is a good support forum if you have problems. I tried Emoze and could never get it to work on the Omnia.

Guest ECRodent Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 Installed the Seven Beta and seems to be working pretty well so far today. I am on Verizon and no problems so far on day 1.
Guest zoolie Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 (edited) If you want authentic push-mail (the mail is sent to you're phone, not the other way around) you need an exchange account. It's ofcourse possible to push with imap but then you need a 3th party between you're phone and the mail-server that handle the requests. I'm pretty sure there are some Linux apps that simulate exchange pretty identical. Edited April 29, 2009 by zoolie

I actually have it set that its always the weekend, so I just send/receive when I am out of the office manually ( no errors like before even though its poutlook...something to do with them as a middle man I think ) You can def tell its beta as it is slow retrieving email, but I can settle for that as I dont really get errors yet like before.

Hmm.. I've been looking into push email for a while now. I have tried Emoze, but it gets buggy. I tried seven but never got it to work. Does anyone care to share the cab they might have used? Over at xda, they have something called outlook gmail beta with something called Imap Idle - but i haven't gotten that to work either. There is also something called Funambol, but I don't believe that is a true push email app. Anyhow, would love to try the proper cab for SEVEN.... please share.
