make sure your outgoing server address is correct. go into the email account, hit menu > tools > options. Choose the account, then edit account setup.... scroll through until you see the outgoing server address. make sure its right. and make sure its the right server setup.... (imap, pop, or exchange server). You can find that out from your email provider.

i have called verizon and we went through it step by step and it seems that all the settings are right. does anyone else use optonline.net for email with the omnia? maybe i could copy those settings to make sure they are right.

Go to this address I found.. maybe you checked it out already. http://optimum.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/optimum.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2397&p_sid=eIz*Klwj&p_lva=27

That website says

  1. Open Windows Mail.
  2. Click on Tools > Accounts.
  3. Click on the Add button then select E-mail Account and click Next.
  4. Type in your name as you would like it to appear in the "From" field of your e-mail (for example: John Smith) and click Next.
  5. Enter your Optimum Online e-mail address and click Next.
  6. Make sure your incoming mail server is set to POP3 server, then type in your incoming mail server name (mail.optonline.net)
  7. Type in your outgoing e-mail server name. Keep Outgoing server requires authentication unchecked and click Next.
  8. Make sure your E-mail username, also called your Optimum ID, is displayed correctly (for example: jsmith).
  9. Optional: Type in your password (case sensitive) and check Remember Password. If you do not select Remember Password, you will need to enter it any time you attempt to access new mail.
  10. Click Next.
  11. Click Finish and then Close to exit the Internet Accounts window.

Both your incoming and outgoing server should be mail.optonline.net

Again, DOUBLE CHECK if you have a pop or imap server configured.... it should be grayed out when youre checking it if you set it up already so you cant change it. Make sure its a POP server.

If this doesnt work.... sorry man.... I tried...
