I just called verizon.

The tech told me they have no information about any firmware, updates, patches, etc

She then transfered me to samsung, where the sales rep told me no i910 exsisted in the united states...

he claims they only have an i900 firmware update.

im assuming i dealt with idiots on the phone, but figured id share all the same.

Heh heh heh... You can't just call up these companies and find out the latest. When you call you just get transferred to trained monkeys that read from the same support pages on the Internet. The people who would actually know are completely disconnected from the end users. Especially the enthusiast users.

just wondering if this http://theidoctor.org/omnia.html Rom is 100% safe and will give me a stock omnia without any other major modifications?  Sorry to just drop in here but I am dieing to unlock the GPS but nervous about loading something that is unproven.  I'm assuming that all the custom roms floating around are based on this one.  Someone please give me a little re-assurance!

its been sometime since ive bricked a phone but a little googling usually can bring you an answer very quickly.

although i give endless props to the rom cookers, youll have your i910 update on may 11th, i say just sit tight, and if its not there by the 11th go for a cooked up rom.

sorry i guess i didnt really answer your question haha

Had the same problem, first do a battery pull, then while the phone is still off plug it up to the charger and see if the charge icon comes on (or even if not) unplug it from the charger and then hold down the Send key and End Key Down at the same time, while also holding in the reset button on top (the one that requires your stylus), Hold it down for AT Least 30 seconds or until a menu pops up to either align the screen or confirm the hard reset, I can't exactly remember which came first, from there just follow the prompts.... Anways, hope this helps, keep posted.

/sigh... There is no update form Verizon today (5/11) people. There was supposed to be an internal test update today so it's not set in stone and there is no guarantee we can get our hands on it.

I guess...

I should have thrown out a random date just to see if I could get people to react.

The infamous "first half of 2009"

"BLAH BLAH BLAH... The recently introduced Windows Mobile devices including Omnia, Saga, and Touch Pro are targeted to add open standalone GPS in the 1st half of 2009.

19 days and counting. They did what they promised-you got GPS unlocked. I'll be more than happy to be wrong

havent touched my phone since last night. fell asleep and saw that i had a missed call around 2 am. went back to sleep and i wake up to a dead omnia. figured battery was dead so i plugged her in and tried to start it up but still wont.

could it be possible that this has something to do with the "testing" or maybe they did send out a firmware update.

anyone else having problems?

Windows Mobile is not setup for over the air firmware updates.

Simply not possible.

Funny you say that cause for the first time ever my omnia would not charge. I woke up with it saying 50% power! I just charged it now so who knows. Even though you say it cant be done over the air its two different people that woke up and their phones where drained or dead. I had all programs closed too. Maybe my phone just sucks cause its a new replacement after my last one died
