Guest za3boto Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 Is there a way to show the security tab under bluetooth settings on my omnia so that the phone asks for my permission before receiving any file? (a registry tweak, 3rd party software, etc...) Please Help!!! I searched this forum, the net, other forums but found no mention for this problem anywhere. Doesn't this problem bother anyone? or it makes no difference for you guys to have this feature like in HTC devices?

Whenever someone tries to pair to another BT device, they are asked to enter in a code. When they "ping" you, you have to put this number in to pair with them. If you get a request, just hit cancel and no harm is done...
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 Not always the case that's why leaving your bluetooth on is a bad idea security wise especially if you are stationary and in a busy public place.

That's why you should keep the phone invisible and only use discovery mode for pairing. I doubt that you pair devices constantly so having the phone discoverable is a REALLY a bad idea. If you send a file you don't have to have the phone discoverable but you'll have to switch to discoverable if someone sends you a file.

I really wished if there was a way to show the security tab under bluetooth settings like in HTC phones, but I guess I'll have to get over it. Thanks a lot for your help.
