Backlight Timeout Not Saved After i910 ROM Flash

After flashing my Omnia i910 to the new unlocked-GPS ROM leaked from Samsung, my unit has developed one problem--there appears to be a conflict between the old Power setting program and the new Easy Settings one. The Power program frequently loses the battery-power backlight timeout setting. The box just gets blanked out and the system defaults to a short timeout (backlight dims). Even if I set the timeout in HKCU-->Backlight, the setting (usually I'll set it to 30) lasts for a short while only. I've noticed that checking e-mail is one thing that tends to wipe out the setting. Other actions (including soft reset) do it, too, but there doesn't seem to be any predictable pattern.

Is there any fix for this?

Thanks!

OK--I did more searching on the net and found the solution. Apparently, this is a WM 6.1 problem not isolated to the Omnia and not necessarily related to the ROM update (which in every other way has been great).

If you've developed a problem with the Power setting for backlight dimming being blank, then defaulting to 7 seconds, despite repeated attempts to set it to whatever:

Using an appropriate registry editor (Total Commander is the one I use):

Go to the registry-->HKCU-->Control Panel-->Backlight

Rename the LockLevel folder "LockLevelx". Don't bother changing any setting within the folder.

This will totally fix the problem. I have no idea why, but IT WORKS!
