Guest bpivk Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 Some lite roms here can have as much as 155mb free space so yes it's possible if you remove a lot of stuff from the rom.
Guest segaodma Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 My total Storage memory is 91.99MB. This meaning: Total: 91.99MB In use: 57.55MB Free: 34.45MB I know that having a ROM with reduced programs will have more free memory. And if I remove programs I will get freed up memory. But the guy has the Total memory increased from some 90MB to 150MB! Meaning that his (so called C: drive) partition is increased. How? Hmmmm

Hmmmm come on, open you mind and go in i9x0 Omnia ROM Discussion, you'll found lot of ROMs with storage more than 140mb++ free, only customized ROM can have this much of storage or free storage, with standard samsung ROM, this is impossible and i don't think you can free up such a storage with some magic in standard ROM, and by the way, the video shown was using WM6.5, another diffrence OS with yours :D
Guest segaodma Posted May 3, 2009 Report Posted May 3, 2009 That is what I was asking. This means that the "Storage memory" can be increased manually (I guess up to 8GB) while cooking the rom taking space from the internal "My Storage". The WM6.5 takes more space to install (like Vista takes more than XP) so it is natural the ones that are cooking roms with WM6.5 to make more space for it. I was just wondering why so little space for the WM6.1 are they giving it. I would give it 500MB or even 1GB and never have problems with getting SMS any more. Can we have such rom?
Guest maf107ezk0 Posted May 3, 2009 Report Posted May 3, 2009 It can`t get up to 8gb, because the 8GB isn`t this memory... The 8gb is My Storage :D It`s very strange but it`s a SAMSUNG
Guest tingchung_chin Posted May 3, 2009 Report Posted May 3, 2009 hmmm.... the max FREE storage we can get with customized clean ROM, i think is around 140mb++
Guest gragra Posted May 3, 2009 Report Posted May 3, 2009 hmmm.... the max FREE storage we can get with customized clean ROM, i think is around 140mb++ Using LuFeigs cooked Rom, my total storage is a massive 169.16 MB. Can you better that?
Guest segaodma Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 (edited) Seems that the less things the rom has, the more Storage is left. But why isn't the whole 256MB shown if it is the ROM that is used for installing? For example if the rom is taking 150MB then 106 to be free? Why is the installation MBs shown like hidden? Same with the RAM... why only 95MB shown? Where is the rest to 128MB? Edited May 4, 2009 by segaodma
Guest thescope Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 (edited) the rest is hidden by Windows Mobile. This is a standard for all MOBILE OS's like Symbian, Android, and closed Firamware/OS. its for the "simple" people like the Storage/Program Memory insted of RAM/ROM. there is a balance between beeing an OPEN OS like WinMo and giving the "simple" people an easy time with it. I think its ok, after all the OS itself has a certan amount of RAM/ROM it needs and since you cant take parts of the OS out there is no need to go there. on a PC like WinXP or VISTA you can take apart the OS using BARTPE and soft like that, but you dont need this on WinMo. Guest segaodma Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 (edited) What would be wrong if it says something like this?! Storage memory Total: 256MB In use: 216MB Free: 40MB Program memory Total: 128MB In use: 88MB Free: 40MB Why does it have to hide the memory used by the OS? We all know the OS is taking space and RAM. That is confusing... someone has total of 90MB Storage, and others have 160MB... really confusing for some newbie. He might think that his phone has less memory from factory? Edited May 4, 2009 by segaodma
