Can't See Crap In Direct Sunlight!!!

Hey guys and gals. This is my first post in this forum. I really hope one of you Omnists can help me with this. I need a solution for the inability to see the Omnia's display in direct sunlight. I bought a Steinheil Anti-fingerprint/Anti-glare screen protector and it made the screen even harder to see in direct sunlight!!! Now when I go in sunlight the screen looks like fog!! I compaired it to my friends Omnia with a clear protector (in direct sunlight) and it was definitely easier to see. This is almost a deal breaker for me.

Any suggestions?

well.. the yellow hue on the screen itself makes it harder to see in sunlight....

i guess you can get a new screen protector... but the only other way to make it work is to make the screen as bright as possible and maybe put your hand over it lol...

thats what i did...

Yeah I haven't found a way to make it better in direct sunlight other than to wear my hat with a brim on it and put it close to my face =P Good luck though.

Change your screen protector, obviously. Block the sun with your shadow, and make sure the backlight is on. I have no problems reading the screen this way.

I am definitely going to switch back to a clear protector, but I almost hate the fingerprints as much as I hate not being able to see the display in sunlight.

Do any of you know of a clear protector that doesn't look like a mirror at a 7-Eleven bathroom after 10 minutes of using it with your fingers?

Are any of these protectors better at not showing fingerprints?

1. Martin Fields Overlay Plus

2. Boxwave ClearTouch Crystal

3. Brando Ultra Clear

4. WriteSHIELD crystal-CLEAR

5. Steinheil Crystal

6. Javoedge Ultra-Clear

zagg invisible shield is great. it keeps fingerprints off and increases grip while maintaining visibility.

set your backlight to automatic rather than manual.

those are the two things ive done and i have no issues in direct sunlight.

invisble shield is really hard to get on, but once you get it, its well worth it.

Yeah Zagg's shield is a serious pain to get on. The front/back not so much but full body is hard to cover the way it SHOULD cover and harder not to overlap. It's a fine protector but I honestly don't find it any better than some crappy $10 front screen protector in the sun. Maybe it's just me? The only benefits you get from Zagg is lifetime guarantee and some EXTREME scratch resistance. Again, this may just be my experience, just how I see it.

if you put it on exactly as instructed, and lets it set for the 24 recommended hours, it ends up being really clear and glare free. its just hard to follow the instructions and leave your phone behind for 12-24 hours haha. but if you dont it wont be as good in sunlight.

Hey, I had the same problem.

Go to Settings -> System -> Power and check "Turn on backlight when a button is pressed or the screen is tapped" in both Battery power and External power.

This solved my problem. :-)

I really got crazy cause my backlight didn't change at all :D

manual @max setting does a better job than automatic under direct sunlight.

The only thing that bothers me with zagg is it's rubbery feel. I hate it because the stylus doesn't slide. It's like i'm using it on an eraser. he other phone uses martin fields and i like it... a lot. :D
