Guest ajinooo Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Hi all, I'm having trouble with Opera mobile 9.5 on my Omnia. I can type on its URL address bar but say I'm on google.com and I wish to type a subject for Google to find, I can't seem to do it at all. I've tried other sites for example BBCIplayer and tried to search for a video - but I can't seem to type anything in the search field. I can browse as per usual but can't type when I'm required to. Any ideas of how to fix this? JJ
Guest ivanxxx Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 I've the same problem nowadays, in last a few days I've installed tcpmp codec pack, skyfire and a T9 add-on keyboard with t9 dictionary. I think it caused by t9.. now using standard winmo keyboard for typing in webpages.
Guest jason07 Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 I've had that problem. When you 1st click in the search box, wait a sec (once the cursor is flashing), and just tap the same search box again, then type away. That's what did it for me. Let me know if it works.
Guest ajinooo Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 (edited) Hi Ivan and Jason, thanks for the info. To Ivan, i recently switched my keyboard to some modified samsung keyboard - but i can't use the keyboard on IE now too. Anyway, I tried uninstalling the keyboard but it's ruined the default keyboard. I've had to reinstall the XT9 keyboard again. A question, how do you switch to the standard keyboard?? - EDITED: found the option to switch to standard keyboard now. To Jason, tried your method but not working. I think it's to do with the keyboard installation. JJ EDITED:: IE and Opera works with the standard keyboard! Thanks!! But the keyboard is small. Oh well, at least it works now. Kinda bummed can't get my old keyboard back. Edited May 4, 2009 by ajinooo
Guest wade_link Posted June 11, 2009 Report Posted June 11, 2009 (edited) Ok, so now I have this issue. I can type in any other program except Opera Mobile. I can in IE. I can not type in the webpage or in the url bar. It accepts space and backspace. I am using SPB Mobile 3, S2U2, and the modification for auto-suggest for emails and texting. (I am guessing it may be the auto-suggest thing). Any help would be much appreeciated. EDIT: Apparently after I try to type in Opera, the problem spreads to anywhere I want to use the XT9 keyboard. All programs do not allow me to type using the keyboard. I reset and things are back to just Opera not allowing me to type. Edited June 11, 2009 by wade_link
Guest wade_link Posted June 11, 2009 Report Posted June 11, 2009 I have done a hard reset and re-installed everything except the auto-suggest for email addresses and text messaging. So far so good, no problems. Anybody have a better way to auto-suggest for sms and email?

Guest GodsGift Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 i have the same problem, i can type in IE but i cant on Opera, opera only recognize space and backspace, can someone help me plz! Try this ... worked for me You need a registry editor. 1. Open your registry editor. 2. Select "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT", which is one step down from the top of the tregistry heirarchy (might display as HKCR in different editor?). 3. Use the built-in "Find" function to find "IsSIPInputMethod". (PHM Registry Editor has the find function under "Tools".) It should find that entry under this class: {42429667-ae04-11d0-a4f8-00aa00a749b9}. 4. Set the value of Default to 0. 5. Exit your registry editor. Dont forget to wait 20 seconds before resetting your phone. from http://my.opera.com/operamobile/blog/show.dml/2398155 Cheers, GG
