Guest thor7777 Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 I flashed my i910 with Wozzer's ROM v5 and started using iGO8 GPS software. It's working great but the problem I have is that even when the Omnia is connected to the car charger the whole time I'm using GPS, the battery is still draining faster than it's charging. So after a 30 minute drive with GPS on (started at full charge) I unhook my phone and battery's at 50% :D Does anyone else have battery life issues when using GPS?
Guest Tim-H Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 Mine works fine with my car charger, it doesnt drain it.

I think azin said another ROM is going to come out then but it might not be a public release, who knows. But WinMo 6.5 comes out the 11th I believe...

Guest maad11 Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 ...But WinMo 6.5 comes out the 11th I believe... The May 11th date was just a rumor - it will be just another MS presentation... The latest news say about the forth quarter of 2009 - see wmexperts link

The latest news say about the forth quarter of 2009 - see wmexperts link there is a thread here abt this rumor, it says the date was given as 5/11, which could either mean may 11th or november 5th :D , depending if u are looking at it with an american calender perspective or european calender perspective.

People need to learn how to read.. AzinTegra said that May 11th there is another SAMSUNG ONLY release for testing. It is NOT an official release or a 6.5 upgrade or anything like that... He said he will post it once its available for him to download.. Sheesh..

Also, somedude, I assure you that unless your locks are within seconds (under 10) on a fresh boot, you aren't using aGPS. Don't let advanced config 3.3 fool you, its a bogus setting, triggered by an HTC registry key. Edited May 6, 2009 by Adrynalyne
Guest Dado... Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 this not problem only with Omnia.... all PDA devices with GPS (internal or external) drain battery rapidly.... this is my 10 year experience with many PDA devices... only solution is using car adapter

I was wondering if it's the charger so I ordered a Samsung OEM one from Ebay....will update here what I find with the official charger
Guest necosino Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 Probably not providing the propper charge or voltage. Smartphones can detect impropper voltages and what-not and may ground the charge right back out to prevent damage. Also, it may sound redundant, but make sure that you're bluetooth and wifi are off. If your wifi keeps catching quick signals, it might drain a LOT of power by trying to constantly reaquire signals or search for new access points.
