Help!

I appear to have bricked my Omnia within 10 minutes of recieving it!

I attempted to update the firmware using the official download and it was doing nothing for ages so I disconnected. I can reconnect and go through the 'Emergency Mode' but the first file downloads and then is says 'Download failed'.

Nothing changes on my Omnia - it's just the Omnia logo.

Any suggestions, guys?!

I've tried it a few times with restarts and stuff and I'm not getting any further. :D

Cheers

Vicky

This may sound rude, but um.. Would you be willing to open your omnia, take out the 16GB memory chip, put the phone back together, and THEN bring it to the storeand say it froze while updating?

I have an i910 8GB and want to try putting a 16GB in to see if it works

Besides, the people in the store would have no idea other than that it isn't working :D

If what you're saying is true, then yes, you have bicked it, 10 minutes in on a brand new phone, the battery is fresh with only a little charge to show you your shiny new device. Always make sure that the battery is fully charged when flashing ROMs, I've had the same problem, twice. In both cases, I had to send the device to be repaired (Blessed be Samsung service centers btw).

Keep the phone "stock" for atleast 3 days until flashing it...just so u get used to it and u have time to read about whats what...just my opinion tho...

The angels are singing!!!

Have attempted flashing numerous times both with the official updater and GrandPrix Vista with no joy.

I uninstalled Windows Mobile Center and it finally worked.

Halleluyah!

(Now I just need to work out how to flash it to remove the Vodafone crap.)

lol, glad it worked out for you.

However if I would be in your shoes right now I'd be too scared to flash again.

I have no fear and flashed it with DXHJ1 and it's working like a charm now. Really chuffed with it.

(Except the 'exclamation mark on the phone' thingy at startup. Any thoughts?)

Cheers

I dont think thats a good thing.. the exclamation mark i mean... i think something didn't go quite right with the flashing, or the updater missed something..
