Hi to everyone!

first of all, i really hope someone can help me. I just received a new Samsung Omnia 8GB from the UK as a gift. It's really simple, I want to use the Samsung Omnia for Skyscape medical programs since I am a doctor. YOu can download the programs at www.skyscape.com then install them into the phone. I installed the files to MY STORAGE and were able to install around 4 skyscape programs and Isilo. But I want to install more programs however, the message: STORAGE MEMORY IS CRITICALLY LOW" displayed and so I am unable to install more. When I checked the memory it said:

STORAGE PROGRAM

Total: 90.63 MB Total: 97.27MB

In use: 85.15 MB In USe: 39.20 MB

Free: 5.48 MB Free: 58.07 MB

then total storage card memory: 7676.00 MB IN use: 3.31 MB Free: 7672.69 MB.

Well from what i i understand there is still a lot of space in my storage card memory but storage memory is low. i don't know why storage memory is low. i don't even know what other files are there. there are no songs, videos, pictures, contacts, calendars, or messages or anything installed in the phone just the skyscape programs that i installed. now, i don't know why the storage memory is low when i thought the phone has 8 GB of memory? please help me i need to install more skyscape programs and i also want to put pictures, music and games to the phone but i don't know why all the things i want to do can't fit when it says i have a lot of memory in other areas?

I've read about flashing the ROM and etc but i don't understand if i should do it or what i should do? the phone was originally from the UK i am using it now in the STates but when july comes I will be using it in the PHilippines for good. now, should i upgrade my ROm what exactly will that do? what should i upgrade it to? coz when i checked www.samsungmobile.com they had an upgrade for the philippines and one for the UK which one should i install? can upgrade to the philippines ROM or can i only upgrade to the UK one? what is the best upgrade? and how will i upgrade it?

my device version is: PDA: i900XXHJ4/MSHJ1

Phone: i900XXHI5

lastly, i can't semm to change the time from military time to the AM and PM time i have done to regional settings and set it for English (US) and changed the time format from HH:MM:ss to H:MM:SS and back and still military time displays.

can someone please help. thanks so much and sorry for the many questions...

Regards

Hi, fairly new to this but i think that the omnia has about 100 mb seperate internal memory aswell as another 8 gig of internal flash memory, so somehow you have to point the software to your 8 gig memory. Sorry to be a bit vague but i'm also in the learning process. :D

i wouldn't change your rom if the only problem you're having is the storage. Even if you're moving to the Philippines. check out our omnia forum http://omnia.modaco.com and read about the different roms and the advantages of them.

About your problem. It seems to me that you've been installing your programs in device memory and not on your 8gig storage memory. I don't know exactly how the skyscape programs are installed, but if they are in a .cab format; make sure to direct the installation to your storage memory:

Screen01.bmp

My storage is the 8gig memory of your omnia; Storage card is if you want to install it on an external memory card.

about your clock; you're indeed in the right menu. Regional Settings => Time, scroll down (it looks like those are the only two options, but if you press the little arrow down, you'll see more)=> choose the ones with tt in the end.

I hope this was helpful enough.

Yeah that's normal but the decrease shouldn't be that big anymore.

hi Dr shobe,

i'm a medical student in Malaysia and i'm currently using quite a number of skyscape medical softwares/programmes on my samsung omnia 16G as well, so it would be my pleasure to help u in tis issue

it's actually a very simple task.. 1st of all u jz hav to install any skyscape program as usual, and then ur PC wil be showing something like files being copied into ur omnia and all the files r actually copied into the MAIN STORAGE of ur omnia, which is the one with 90.63MB memory. after tat when u reach the step to 'finish installation' on ur omnia, it's actually asking where u like to install the 'xxx READER' (u'll notice it only asks u where to install the READER of the documents, whereas all the large core files hav already been stored into ur main memory jz now which u did not hav the opportunity to choose where to install them). jz install the reader in MY STORAGE

and now u r done with ur installation. the next thing u'll hav to do is to go to

start-->programs-->file explorer-->my device-->program files-->skyscape

where u'll see the program's core documents tat u've jz installed, for example 'MosbyDict'. tis is the large files tat consumed all ur main memory

finally, select all the items in 'MosbyDict' folder and cut them out, then go to

start-->programs-->file explorer-->MY STORAGE-->program files-->skyscape-->MosbyDict

and then paste all under tis folder, which means u've moved all from 'my device' main memory to 'my storage' memory, which is the 8G one

(hopefully i got them all correctly)

and NOW u r ready to go with another program installation. ENJOY UR MEDICAL SOFTWARES~~ <_<

P/S: plz feel free to PM me in case u do hav any doubt or further question
