Guest theidoctor.org Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 (edited) I got to play around with wozzers 6.5 rom on my friend's phone and it was ok but not great. I didnt play with it too long, but instead of using the default today page, we used the m2d. The m2d had a nice interface and i did like some parts of what 6.5 had, but it felt like it still had way too much of 6.1 I liked that the phone felt a lot smoother and more responsive and that wozzer's rom created a lot of extra space, but i would like more response regarding 6.5. Im curious to see what the developer's release will be like when it comes out. What do you guys think of the new 6.5? likes and dislikes? Edited May 7, 2009 by theidoctor.org
Guest aceofrazgriz Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 personally i like the new today screen. puts everything you need right there, especially with some add-ons already developed. the start menu is a love/hate for me. i wish it was easier to move icons around, if that was the case i would indeed be in favor of it. Also new in 6.5 is some simple gestures, for WMP and menus like system settings, you can swipe horizontally across the screen and it will change the song, or move to the next tab. scrolling with your finger (not using the scrollbar) seems to be much better also. it would be nice to have some more new/changed things, but we have to remember this is only 6.5, an update 6.1, which was an updated 6.0. But with some of these changes, even the small unnoticeable ones, it brings hope for WinMo 7.

I think it was still a great update!

Guest Slick86 Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 I just went to WinoMO 6.5. Its nice but nothing to write home about. I do really like the lock screen but the main screen leaves a little to be desired. For some strange reason, when the main screen is on the clock, it is in the middle of the page wasting most of the top half of the screen. I have had two random complete freezes today. I olike the addition of finger scrolling in file explorer but overall not prolly worth the upgrade.
Guest Foster318 Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 I'm really enjoying the today screen. I'm using WoZZers 6.5 lite rom. I used the M2D 6.1 Rom before this one. I like M2D a lot, but 6.5's interface is simple and complete enough for me not to have to install another UI. This is nice because is saves more device space. Like people above have said it would be nice to move the progs around a little easier, but that's about the only complaint I really have so far.
Guest Turborepu Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 Yeah I just finished flashing, I actually was having issues hard reseting before i flashed.. but its done now.. I will have to reflash to cc20 before i send it back to verizon when i get my new one tomorrow..
Guest Slick86 Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 but thank you wozzer! Your work is very much appreciated!
Guest bike1dad2 Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 I think it is simple. Either you like the features or you don't. I personally like features from 2 different roms and would love to see them merged. Since I am too scared to start cooking for myself, I pirate from those that have done so. I take what I can get. To me using a UI designed for 6.1 with 6.5 seems like going backwards. Additionally, ALL of the 6.5 roms out there are just piecemeal versions of 6.5. We are unlikely to see an alpha version for a few more months. So, the advice is just decide which you like and go there, but as you are with crackberry . . . :D
Guest Dblocker Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 The more i use the WM6.5 Titanium UI the more I like it and appreciate its design. The notion of panels that have a condensed and detail state when you slide over them is really pretty cool. Add in the ability to add additional pages to each panel and now you've got a UI that's both intuitive and offers quick access to details about the weather, notifications, browser favorites, etc. Having the all-in-one notifications panel is what really sold me on the UI. Getting rid of the individual email, txt, etc panels made it nice and simple. And I really like the photo contacts panel as well. It's got to be just a matter of time before someone over at xda comes out with a little utility to rearrange the today menu icons. It's a very easy registry hack so I can live with it for now. The final thing I'll say is that people are creating a lot of cool themes for the 6.5 interface. And I like all the work going on over at xda around 6.5. So it'll only get better as time goes on.
Guest Turborepu Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 (edited) Yeah so far i've been poking around, and i like it. But its different so it still feels awkward to me.. lol.. i was like wtf !! how do i get the start menu, (after activating the honeycomb one) and i kept hitting the start btton, and the lil wm 6.1 menu wouldn't come up.. I was like WTF!! and the whole time the honey comb menu was already up.. but my brain apparently was on screensaver or something.. I'm gonna throw some music on here, and give the wmp a try.. now.. later on I will fiddle with the themes, I see myself sleeping on the sofa tonight.. Damn you WoZZer!! Edited May 7, 2009 by Turborepu
Guest lastnikita Posted May 8, 2009 Report Posted May 8, 2009 Highly unstable, no real benefit unless you like titanium or the honeycomb. I tried 4 different versions few days ago, for a total of 1h before I came back to regular build..
Guest Turborepu Posted May 8, 2009 Report Posted May 8, 2009 smooth and stable for me so far... i just gotta figure out what the hell im doin with these panels..
Guest chokia Posted May 8, 2009 Report Posted May 8, 2009 (edited) New out of the box and unique features of WM6.5 that i like 1. LockScreen - unique to WM6.5 2. Titanium 3. Honeycomb 4. IE6 - silverlight support 5. Contacts - photo id support 6. File explorer - advanced 7. Windowslive - latest and dedicated to WM6.5 only 8. Outlook live 9. Market place 10. Widgets What i dislike 1. Sometimes screen doesnt lock properly 2. Sometimes Rotation mode doesnt work properly 3. Background application sometimes close by itself 4. Wifi disconnect on standby 5. Sometimes phone doesnt connect / unable for people to call in 6. WMP cant make screen stay on when streaming video/tv unlike wm6.1 7. Some WM6.1 application doesnt work properly in WM6.5 8. cant remember, maybe thats all, and looks like the good out balance the bad points so thats why i choose WM6.5 Edited May 8, 2009 by chokia
Guest 3shirts Posted May 8, 2009 Report Posted May 8, 2009 (edited) I'm with chokia. I like the new features, the finger friendly menus are a big improvement but a few things like the messaging and media player are ugly and need finger friendliness. I have found shokka9's ROM totally stable It feels like a much upgraded 6.1 but just that, nothing revolutionary just a few improvements. Windows Mobile 7 will be really interesting Edited May 8, 2009 by 3shirts
Guest thierryyy Posted May 8, 2009 Report Posted May 8, 2009 @Chokia "Market place coming soon" says mine...
