I tried to search hard for anyone who may have come across with the similar problem (not that i wish someone really had), so I now post my predicament.

Computer OS: XP SP3

Installed in order: Active sync 4.5 then Samsung CDMA modem drivers (as suggested by samsung)

i908 16GB (HK)

Shop Changed it from Chinese to English ROM when I bought it.

Unfortunately I should have ask to test the sync functions.

Version:

PDA: i908ZHHH2

Phone: i908ZHHH2

Status:

Phone CAN be charged with the USB cable.

Phone CANNOT be detected.

Not even a single prompt from the computer to suggest some device was found.

No response from activesync even with manual connection. I have had WM devices in the past and never had so much problem with activesync. I even followed the suggestion (by activesync software) to turn on the phone while connecting to activesync.

No response from grandprix software as well. I tried to detect the phone with the software but no luck.

Tried hard reset, soft reset, reinstalled XP twice, installed chinese active sync, tried to have it detected by new ROM updaters, reinstalled drivers...still no luck.

I just want to have it detected so I can transfer files to it.

Your help and suggestions would be greatly invaluable. Thank you in advance mates!

I have tried that one as well but it doesnt work.

From research, it seems some other samsung phone models experienced this problem too.

thanks for the tip though. i appreciate it.

Problem has been resolved. The Faulty USB Cable was the culprit. Samsung should have better QC in my opinion. Anyway, now I can enjoy this phone.

Thanks for the help.
