Check this out:

MFSA-SS2035.jpg

Here it is on a samsung phone quite a bit smaller than the Omnia:

12 bucks. I was ordering a new screen protector, and this popped up as an impulse buy. Got one. A much more compact solution than the headphone cable that comes with the phone.

I think that's the point. If you wanted a longer you might as well just use the included FM wire.

But... WHY CAN'T THESE MOBILE PHONES INCLUDE A BUILT-IN HEADPHONE JACK???? Is there some stupid patent about headphone jacks on phones?

I think it's more a matter of having a single port on the phone, rather than having the headphone jack + data/charger port. Less ports = easier body = easier wiring = cheaper

the omnia HD does and no theres no patent issues I know of it's probably just cheaper and easier (from a design stand point) case you have to adapt your whole PCB(printed circuit board) to accommodate for that.

Also I belive this one is superior to the topic starters solution.

Could always use a Bluetooth A2DP 3.5mm Bluetooth receiver for about $30 means no messy cables go to the omnia at all but to the small bluetooth clip.

i bought this last month and i hate it.

first of all the sound from it is too soft and it appears not to process the sound in stereo.

in short, useless...

i own this. i use it daily at the gym.

its much nicer and more compact.

but the problem is the part that plugs into the phone bends

and that messes with your sound, i havent found one that doesent

maybe im just rough on it haha.

just a heads up tho.

also on amazon you can get it for 49 CENTS

Maybe I misunderstand you but the Omnia already supports A2DP anyway so you don't need an adapter. Also I think this thread is more for those that don't have/want to use bluetooth headphones.

Does radio work ok through these adapters?

I have this adapter, and while it works fine for all other audio... THE RADIO DOES NOT WORK WITH THIS!!!!

The designer of this adapter didn't take into account that the headphone ground is used for the FM radio antenna. They didn't connect the appropriate grounds together.

lol??? The designers were aiming to create an adapter that's minimal in size and still allows users to listen to music. I'm pretty sure they had thought about the FM radio antenna and have decided to design a product that doesn't have one so it will be smaller, which was their goal.

Nah it was made as a generic samsun s20 to audio adaptor not just for the omnia maping the antenna pinouts back to the ground on the headphones would haven't been hard or added any extra size but this adaptor wasn't designed with Just the omnia in mind so it probally wasnt even considered or it would have caused cnflicts with some other devces this adaptor suports

Any bluetooth receiver for $30 is going to be crap. I have this one for $60 and it is awesome. It is also sold as a Tritton AX BlueStream if the Sonorix is sold out. I use this for both headphones and for hooking into the AUX port in my car for handsfree and music streaming. Highly recommended.
