Guest paulperkins Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Hi All, I've read through the FAQs and other postings regarding asx files, but I've got a slightly different setup that I can't get to work. I've got Apache on my desktop PC with an aliased directory pointing to the CDROM drive. The CDROM contains a few album's worth of MP3s. What I'm trying to do is set up asx files so that I can stream the MP3s from the desktop PC without having to download the MP3 to the SD card. Placing an asx file on the SD card works all well and good, so long as the MP3 file is also on the SD card. When I open an asx file on the server (ie not residing locally) the Apache logs show that WMP loads the asx, accesses the MP3 file on the server, but then errors out saying that it can't open the file. The layout of the asx is exactly as described in the FAQ. Does WMP treat a remote asx differently to a local one and won't play it for security reasons? Any thoughts? TIA, Paul.
Guest madu Posted January 31, 2003 Report Posted January 31, 2003 Maybe it cannot stream MP3 files?? Try using a WMA..
Guest paulperkins Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Got it!! Apache was serving asx files as text/html, so adding: video/x-ms-asf asx to mime.types solved it! Now all I need to work out is why the tunes play so jumpily!
