Guest thenameless Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Well, after going to Wildwood, we decided to go in the ocean in our clothes. So I did. The omnia sat on the beach and waited for me in my hat with my shirt. We made it back to my shore house.....I cleaned my pockets out and thru my shorts in the dryer. My girlfriend ordered pizza.....I threw my damp clothes back on and rode out to pick the pizza up. When I got back, in all my glory....I took my shorts off and put them back in the dryer without taking my omnia out of the dryer. Well, it was in there for an hour and a half. It still works, suprisingly. The only damage is the back battery cover and the chrome ring around the outside. The plastic over the touchscreen looks a little funky too and has some light scratching, but for the most part its all good. I checked cnn.cn and on google. Does anyone know where I can get the chrome piece that goes on the front of the phone? I found the back cover on ebay, the cover for the touch screen on cnn.cn... is there any place that sells omnia replacement shells? I understand the middle part (the one that has all the buttons on it if you look at your omnia from the side) is the PHONE and can't be replaced. It's not scratched. Does i900 parts fit my i910? Someone, throw me a bone :D
Guest Natsirt Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 dang that sux lol.. i think i have what you're looking for.. House Case Face Plates hope that helps, if it doesn't you could always search around on eBay :D
Guest Paul Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Yeah, eBay seems your best bet - at least the Omnia fascias are dead easy to swap! P
Guest thenameless Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Wow, thanks. Will that fit an i910??
Guest Turborepu Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 i would like to replace the chrome trim on mine with all black. Then I'd be happy..
Guest ivanxxx Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 I'm used to carry it in my back pocket but then I have one purple and one overlighten spot. I'm gonna send it to warranty..
Guest Crushader Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 Then I guess Omnia is as durable as this site tested: http://www12.24h.com.vn/news/detail/79/219...msung-omnia.24h The Omnia still working, just scratches outside =]

I'm just happy it works. I'll replace the housing after I move to GA at the end of June.
Guest Christian Spain Posted May 12, 2009 Report Posted May 12, 2009 Had the opposite happen to me. Mine took a nice swim. But, I'm glad to say mine also survived. Gotta love OMNIAs tougher than you would think sorry for the shout, but I love this thing
Guest Rooster Misfit Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 Then I guess Omnia is as durable as this site tested: http://www12.24h.com.vn/news/detail/79/219...msung-omnia.24h The Omnia still working, just scratches outside =] holy s*** that is crazy what they did to it.. they either have lots of money or they got free phones sent to them... i wish it was in english so i could tell what they said about it alll but it looks like they were all working pretty well.. i droppd my omnia on some rocks (thankfully i was testing out (for a review) a plastic case at the time and it cacked the case. im pretty sure it would have cracked the omnia or the screen if i didnt have that case on.

Guest Crushader Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 Well, I wont be translating the whole page, but what they did was threw in the fridge then washing machine then bag of dusts then car run over then soak in beer then washed with water. AND ITS STILL WORKING!!! ^^
Guest shokka9 Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 that is god damn unbelievable!!! The washing machine and being drove over are the ones that we all should take note from.. WOW, the Omnia is actually quite durable. To be honest, it feels quite strong tho. I have dropped mine a few times (onto wooden floors), it just disperses into 3 peices, the phone, the back cover and the battery. No cracks or anything, so put it all together and it always works :D
Guest Quang05BlkBoxsterS n Omnia Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 holy s*** that is crazy what they did to it.. they either have lots of money or they got free phones sent to them... i wish it was in english so i could tell what they said about it alll but it looks like they were all working pretty well.. i droppd my omnia on some rocks (thankfully i was testing out (for a review) a plastic case at the time and it cacked the case. im pretty sure it would have cracked the omnia or the screen if i didnt have that case on. translated exactly word for word in a meaningful way, personal comment in () pic1: first, put it in the freezer pic2: lower temperature (the yellow needle showing about -4C, not an industry standard cold soak test at -40C but that is below water freezing point  ) pic3: but it still works normally pic4: in the washer (but not sure washed it with water and soap :D ) pic5: after the wash, its screen still lighted up pic6: experiment with envorimental conditions by putting it in a bag full of fine sand and shake it around pic7: and afterwards pic8: put Omnia under car tire and roll over back and forth (how many times?) pic9: this phone still works with only a few marks on the screen (probably not displaying pixels or scratches) pic10: soak it in a glass of beer pic11: and washed it off with water finally pic12: Omnia still works but a few scratches or spots, and a few discolored display spots on the screen  motorola has a US$2,000 cell phone for rough use but it does not have full features and touch screen, wonder anyone tried the same tests with iPhone 3G
Guest ghost82 Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 hmmm.... my omnia is looking a bit grubby, might put it through the wash <_<
