Guest FabMaurice Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 Hi, I am a new owner of an Omnia i900 (8GB / PDA i900DXIA5/DZIA5 / Phone i900DXIA2). I tried to use the phone as a modem for my PC to connect to the internet through Omnia's PROGRAMS > INTERNET SHARING (using the USB data tether cable for connection). It will at first succeed, but after some time of usage (between 5minutes and 30minutes), the PC cannot access internet although INTERNET SHARING on the Omnia remains in CONNECTED state. I also confirmed that the Omnia can still access the internet at this point and so it seems to be some communication between the PC and Omnia. I have tried the same Omnia on 3 different PCs, all on WinXP SP3, and they all showed the same problem. The only way I am able to recover the internet connection for the PC is to click DISCONNECT and then CONNECT again in Omnia's INTERNET SHARING. I have tried many ways to fix this and have googled for a fix, and discovered that this ICS problem seems quite common among some users but the method to fix it varies from installing softwares to registry tweaks, and many were for WM6.0. I have tried some of these fixes but still didnt work. Yet there seems many didnt encounter this problem. This is rather disruptive to my work. Hope that folks here would be kind to share with me a fix for this, or point me to the location to get this fixed. Thank you.

Thanks for responding. That didnt help. Still the same problem. Besides, it auto re-enabled the moment I connected to INTERNET SHARING on the Omnia.

Guest kav Posted May 16, 2009 Report Posted May 16, 2009 yeah. did that too ... didnt work. No one else here use their Omnia as a modem for PC to access the internet? it quite expensive for use as internet access via pc but for sure there are some people here that use their omnia as a modem, just some patience and maybe someone can help u.
Guest FabMaurice Posted May 16, 2009 Report Posted May 16, 2009 thanks. i have an unlimited usage mobile broadband plan which don't cost much. as i do more searches, i found this http://www.modaco.com/content/smartphone-g...g-every-5-mins/ and i am thinking it could be MS activesync that could be messing up the connection between omnia and PC. but if this was the cause, then why would my internet access on PC thru omnia can vary between 5-60minutes? anyways, a regedit to try out wouldnt hurt at this point.
Guest FabMaurice Posted May 16, 2009 Report Posted May 16, 2009 nope. that regedit didnt help. i've also uninstalled activesync on winxp. but the problem persist. so the issue could perhaps be limited to wm6.1 or may even be my omnia phone itself. hope someone here can help.
Guest FabMaurice Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 just bumping up my post. can anyone help?
