Hey guys, I was for the past two hours so excited about sector's latest rom build N1 and was at workplace.. so couldnt really update my omnia to it and was desperate enough to try a old unused win 2000 based system, using executor I extracted all bins and UDSL grandprix (xp version) I started flashing it..

In the beginning I had plenty of problems such as DEVICE NOT RECOGNISED error and other usb error..

but finally the eboot image got downloaded using teh Grandprix and it started writing.. to my delight..so I THOUGHT!!.. BUT BUT!!

BUT

CATASTROPHE @ about 6% of writing and then it said " WRITING FAILED" my OMNIA SCREEN WAS BLANK..

now i cant boot it!.. it just shows red led on the power button , took off battery and tried reboot again, but still the red led on power button and there is no boot logo, nothing.. :D :D

please help Before I decide on going to my 3 network operator.. I got this phone on cap, i REALLY want to see if there are any more options, besides going home later today trying it out on my home computer (which is what I always used to flash my omnia) .. I feel so idiotic and stupid right now.. I should have waited till i got home!!

now please help me before I lose my mind

what to do?

if service center the only option? how to approach my mobile phone provider tomorrow?? btw I am on 3 network in Australia./. what do I tell them.,,and what will they say??? I aint new to flashing but I am new to bricked phone.. I have never bricked my phone so far in my life !! :D please help with the above the questions.. fingers crossed.

and sorry about this long read..

help me thanks!!

edit:;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

Update! Service center (official samsung accredited) fixed it in only one day! replaced PCB board :-) love ya Sammy! all under warranty. :( :D  :D :D

you need to hard reset you omnia... by following this guide on below link:

http://www.pspmyspace.com/omnia/2008/09/how-to-hard-res.html

secondly when done hard reseting.. make sure you install samsung modem drivers first before flashing the rom of your choice (see attached file).. Sector and Khuanchai or shokka's rom are good choices...

dont worry your phone didn't brick at all :D

for further assistance you can post queries here for further assistance.. people are polite and accomodating here:

http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-general...ix-10-may-2009/

http://www.modaco.com/content/i9x0-omnia-r...esearch-thread/

Cheers...

oh btw, i hope your omnia is i900? to make this work... flashing sectors and other's rom mentioned above will harm your omnia if it's i910.. thanks man..

Another trick I read about but have not tried. Get another Omnia (maybe not easy) and start the flash. When that one is found and program asks to Start, swap yours for the other one. Maybe you can search and find the original post here on Modaco for more details. I hope this at least gives you something to track down. Good luck to you.

I dont even know how to act with them now

I've heard of this JTAG before. It seems this is professional equipment and connector cables. The equipment is expensive for them, so they charge, Seems fair. Do it yourself is cheaper if you find something that works. If not, service center fixes it and I bet they use JTAG.

Thanks again Ron, you reckon the 3 network service center over here has the JTAG with them or do you think they might send my OMnia to Korea? lol.. i know stupid questions, anxiety.. no omnia beside me and all,

btw them repairing my Omnia is only possible if they accept it for repair and fingers crossed they do! I have all warranty and everything they need!

Did you try to update using the ************Emergency Mode************?

If you don't know how to access the ************Emergency Mode************:

1- Just download any official ROM udpate from: http://www.samsungmobile.com/support/omnia/index.jsp .

2- Download Wincontrol from the attachments.

3- Open the update.

4- Open wincontrol, press software tweaks button (up left), hold the lens and put it in the blank space above the white box of "Tick this box after you have connected ....etc."

(Put the lens in the exact position as if there was a white box above the two boxes, until in the handle info box there is the word "Button").

5- Press "Show".

6- Connect your Omnia to the PC.

7- Press **********Emergency Mode************

8- It will ask you to manually reset you're device...

Actually i didn't manage to try this method by myself, i just read it; so hopefully it works for you <_<

thanks mate, I tried that last night and it didnt work.. thanks for posting though.

And today , I went to my local phone provider repair centre and one of the customer officer told me its better to take my handset to the Samsung Service centre here in Sydney... coz the turn around is about 3-4 working days. I said ok and took the handset to the service center which was luckily only 10 minutes away.

I went in, and there was korean receptionist who took my handset, opened the battery and told me that my handset is covered under warranty unless its liquid damaged , and told me that they will take the handset and asked me fill the warranty form and she was very positive that it will be fixed.

I asked for a turn around time, she said they will fix it in 3-4 days.

Hoping so it will be done by that time.. and awaiting their phone call.

will keep posted.

cheers

Nice to hear things went nice and smooth there <_<

I'm really worried about what would happen here, in Turkey :) Gosh, I wish the "Customer Satisfaction" idea was more in-depth here...

(Anyone from Turkey with an experience such here? I'm thinking what to do if ever I need to reset back to factory ROM - If I need to sell the phone or so)

Playing it Dumb can get you by alot of "bad situations" and a good tip for us smart ppl :)

Anyway Congrads. and if you have to use an OS that is not XP, try VMWare and install on it Windows XP,

that's how I flashed my phone using Windows 2000 and Windows 7 <_<

there is a guide by shokka9

I went through this process after a wrong flash of a rom, way back 5 or 6 months ago. I lost my all hopes about my omnia and I thought it's all over!! <_< But it worked for me. I re-called my memory Secony, one of best guys in this forum, who showed me the way at that time.

Keep in mind when you install the XP modem driver to your pc, please don't install using the "setup" exe file. Just connect your mobile to PC and wait to detect it automatically. When you get the driver installtion window, you can show file location for the XP modem driver. It is the correct way.

I hope this will help, those who have already bricked their phones.

Cheers'

fritzprezz !!! I love you !!!

I fixed "bricked" omnia. In my case bricked means following: I was able to see is red led; after turning it on, some strange exclamation mark on the black screen, active sync was off, omnia was not recognized in dindows.

Your solution worked even battery was less than half empty... I flashed back original i900DZIA5_updater_xp.exe. Perhaps that empty battery was the reason why first flash failed.

i dont think ur omnia is brick if logo appears...it happened with me also when i flashed my omnia I900 for the first time....just charge ur omnia and u can try in different pc or in same pc (i tried in different pc) but make sure samsung drivers and latest active sync are installed. i did the same and it worked.

and one more thing, use correct ROM which have been used by people.
