ok, so when i imported my contacts from hotmail (windows live, whatever they're calling it this week) into my phone, they all showed up. that's good. the bad thing is my hotmail contacts were poorly maintained by myself and i now have between 2 and 5 separate entries in my contact list on my phone for several people; they have different email accounts for school, work, home etc. i want to keep all those entries, but merge them into the one phone contact that i use for that person. i was hoping that the phone would give me the option to merge contacts, but no such luck.

so now what i want to do is sync all my contacts FROM my omnia TO outlook so i can manually merge them on my pc and then sync them back. i've tried going through the basic activesync and outlook routines but these all seem to be geared towards syncing contacts FROM your pc TO your phone.

i've searched the forums already and didn't find anything regarding this. i can't be the only person to ever need to do this, right? i mean, what if somebody's buying a new computer and wants to set up outlook contacts based on their phone contacts?

Open Activesync on your device, choose menu, options, select the computer you want to sync with, settings, 'If there is a conflict' - choose keep the item on my device. NOW go to Activesync on your computer and select tools, options, highlight your computer, settings, 'If there is a conflict' - replace item on desktop'. I think this is what you are trying to do.

You can also sync computer to phone to second computer this way. I keep a master backup of all my information on my memory card and have repopulated my laptop outlook several times.
