i910: Samsung Phonepad/Xt9 Phonepad issue

I apologize if this issue has been discussed before, but I can't find any information regarding it.

I, like many others, prefer to use the phonepad when sending texts or short emails in portrait mode. In fact it's very rare that I switch to the full keyboard, or even go landscape for that matter.

Unfortunately, ever since I upgraded to the "unofficial rom" my phone automatically defaults to "Xt9 keyboard" even when I bring up the entry mode selector and find that "Xt9 phonepad" is selected. I then have to click on "xt9 phonepad" and they keyboard goes down and pops back up with the phonepad. Sometimes this doesn't even work and I have to touch a letter on the keyboard before it switches. I have tried omnia sip (which I'd prefiously used on the factory rom to switch from "Samsung Phonepad Txt9" in portrait to "Samsung Keyboard ABC" in landscape), but it appears omnia sip doesn't work with the new rom.

What the hell is causing this? And for that matter, why has Samsung (phonepad, keyboard, and keypad) been replaced by Xt9 (phonepad, keyboard, and keypad)?

by the unofficial rom do you mean the leaked rom by verizon? if not you should state which rom you have so others with that rom can tell you if its happening to them too

Yes I am using the unofficial verizon rom. Interesting, and irritating, it also no longer recognizes "I" and cannot seem to program it. Instead if i hit "g/h/i" and just hit space it simply types the letter "g". So incredibly annoying.

I was using the keyboard with my thumbs (not the teeny tiny stylus one) up until I got the Verizon Leaked Rom. Now I'm using the T9 Phone Pad. But still, I would like a Larger Keyboard without the keys on the right.. Just one with larger keys! Anyone have a solution?

Why didn't you use the pad before, when it actually worked correctly?

well since i dont have that rom i cant help much but go threw the directory and see if you have just "g" in there and if it is then try deleting it... also make it so the autospell doesnt try and spell anything till after the 3rd letter is typed

Exact thing happened to me with the official rom, big v are a bunch of wh*res. Its the reason i've started flashing... now im hooked :)
