Guest sky-net Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 Hi, I wanted to use my omnia as mp3 player in the car. Unfortunatly the Touchplaer always stops playing after the phone goes into standby mode. Is there any way to fix this? I also tried s2p and it was working but the display switches off after a few seconds of playing. The only way to bring it back on ist to press the power buton, which is not possible for me if the phone is in the car holder. Any ideas how to change this behaviour? I already checked my S2U2 setting and configured it like descriped in the FAQ but wit no change. My Omnia Version is DXIA2 Thanks
Guest stuzathegreat Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 Sadly, the perfect media player (for me at least) still doesn't exist and believe it or not, the closest to perfection is actually Windows Media Player! Basicaly, as I understand it, many of these programs dont run as a "service" and therfore, when the power goes off the app is suspended. Windows Media Player seems to run like a service and will happily play with the device off. I have done lots of research into this and must have tried nearly 15billion million gazillion diferent media players and sadly, they either have a great library function which is finger friendly OR they run as a service..... why cant I find one that is both!? So, i'm left with Media Player which apart from being a bit fiddly to chose tracks, works a treat <_<
Guest sky-net Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 it's strange because the S2P also plays after the device goes into standby. so it can't be that difficult to have the TouchPlayer do the same. I don't understand the behaviour of the TouchPlayer because it doesn't make sence to have a mp3 player which stops playing after a minuter or two. Samsung must have thought about this?! I can't believe that the only option is to deactivate the standby mode of the phone.
Guest stuzathegreat Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 .... Samsung must have thought about this?! Its not a Samsung issue, its the O/S/programming issue. TF2D does exactly the same as do many other players (not all though!).
Guest sky-net Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 (edited) then the mp3 functionality of the Omnia is a piece of crap <_< I don't get it why other applications work well. Edited May 20, 2009 by sky-net
Guest stuzathegreat Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 then the mp3 functionality of the Omnia is a piece of crap <_< Its NOT an Omnia problem, it happens to the same media players on EVERY WinMo phone. Its related to the way the operating system works AND how the app was programmed to work. Why not just use Windows Media Player?

I would have expected that Samsung delivers a media player which works well even if the phone is in standby. I will give Win mediaplyer a try then...
Guest cgrayjr Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 (edited) Oddly enough, I'm having a problem with my phone going into standby with WMP running, and I can't find any config setting anywhere that would prevent this from happening. Anyone have any ideas? Edit: I am running WinMo 6.5 on it, so it may be a bug in the beta release. Edited May 20, 2009 by cgrayjr
Guest needmoney Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 (edited) Im using built-in-rom(shokka 6.5 latest build) HTC Audio Manager, and it's nearly perfect and doesn't stop playing music when in stand-by mode. It needs playlist saving and option to massively add files or folders to playlist. Edited May 20, 2009 by needmoney
