Guest Rhinestone Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 Having given Orange a bell this evening to discuss upgrading to an HTC Touch HD from my elderly Vox, I was surprised to say the least when nice bloke on the phone informed me of a communication they all had today stating that serveral phones had been discontinued with immediate effect including the Touch HD. Aparently this is due to problems customers have been experiencing with certain models of phone involving them being replaced under warranty. It diddnt just concern moodels from the HTC stable, he did also mention Nokia and Samsung as having discontinued models also. It all seemed very genuine and this bloke certainly knew what he was talking about. I diddnt feel like I was being scammed into getting a lesser model or anything. I have been offered the Touch Diamond or I could wait for the Touch Pro 2 which is scheduled for release in mid June. Since my research has been mainly between the Touch HD and the Touch Diamond 2 I'm now in a quandry. Having had a quick shuftie at some images of the Touch Pro 2 I have to say it looks a little VOX-Like. I'm no longer sure what to do?
Guest SilentBob Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 I have just checked the Orange website and it is still showing as available. I would find it very strange if they did cease the HD, as it sounds like they are doing quite well out of it.

Guest jchamier Posted May 29, 2009 Report Posted May 29, 2009 I have been offered the Touch Diamond or I could wait for the Touch Pro 2 which is scheduled for release in mid June. Since my research has been mainly between the Touch HD and the Touch Diamond 2 I'm now in a quandry. Having had a quick shuftie at some images of the Touch Pro 2 I have to say it looks a little VOX-Like. I'm no longer sure what to do? PCPro this month reviewed the Diamond 2 and liked it a lot. They said it was improved over the HD due to the improved TouchFlo3D - and I believe a read of the xda-dev's site will reveal ways to get those updates on the HD. <_< I love my HD, it was a culture shock coming from the Kaiser (Vario 3); getting used to doing without a physical keyboard, and yes, I send less emails and texts - but - I do read more web. On holiday in the US at the start of the month, all the hotels had free WiFi. I had a choice between my iPod Touch, or the Touch HD. The Touch HD won because of the great screen. I wouldn't want to shrink the physical size even slightly. Yes, the Apple product has a lot of nice edges, the TouchFlo music player irritates when it doesn't remember where I was in the list (I have an 8gb microSD 90% full of music). However the screen is so good when reading the web on Opera, and using the 3.5mm jack to connect to hotel stereo systems or even my Bose dock at home. The first HTC to really take on the iPhone at its own game. Since I use MS Exchange for email, Windows mobile has always been superior to the iPhone OS to me.
