Guest billa88 Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 Hi everybody, new guy here so please excuse my ignorance and fumbling. I have an 8gb Telus i910 and (of course) I want to enable the GPS. I have seen posts from some folks who say they have done this but still have issues. I was wondering if someone who knows could post the instructions on how they have got this feature enabled. There is no menu item for GPS on my phone as it has been removed, how do I at least get that back? Do I need to flash the rom (shiver) or can a registry tweak or something similar suffice? Please share your info if you have any. Many thanks!

Just download google maps and stand out side when you start it up and it will pick up the satelites. Works great for me. gordo

We have nothing at this moment <_< I tried GPStoday to keep always a GPS lock but it drains the OEM battery too fast.

I believe it should be under settings/system. My phone has no GPS icon shown here but this is where it should live, if the wankers at Telus hadn't removed it. Perhaps some rom cooker would take up the challenge and deal a blow to the corporate contol freaks. One would think the Verizon cdma leaked rom could be massaged to work on the Telus Omnia, but alas, I admit I know squat about these things.

Why are you worried about the external GPS control setting when you have an internal GPS?
Guest kwokinator Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 I have a Telus Omnia too, I just downloaded the latest version of Google Maps and gets no signal even if I'm outside, and GPS Setting is set to On in the phone menu. Anyone know if there needs to be another setting adjusted to have it work? Thanks.
