I had been pretty fed up with the standard keyboards that Samsung originally loaded onto the phone, and I've tried almost all of them. From personal experience I know how much of a pain it what to find all the right resolutions and such, so I figure we should just post our favorite keyboards + layouts here.

Right now I'm using PocketCm plus RR33's WQVGA skin. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501219

There's 16 different skins, plus a few different layouts.

It runs extremely smoothly, and types quite well.

Also if you decide to use this setup, remember to disable T9. Use the .CAB attached below.

What are all of your favorites? and why?

Personally I beg to differ. I've used quite a few different keyboards, and I like FingerKeyboard v2.1 the best. The intuitive interface, with the TONNES of configurable keyboard shortcuts really makes it shine. Also, it has several skins which you can use as well as several languages' support. The options and settings allow you to configure alot of the keyboard settings too, such as the typing sound, haptic feedback, shortcuts etc

I've configured some of the keys on my keyboard and when I sms, all the emoticons and typing shortcuts I use (all 10 numbers, 4 smileys, and the "...") are easily available. this includes all the symbols on your standard keyboard (including these: ? , . ! ; " ' - @ /) all on the same keyboard without even having to switch to the 2nd page of the keyboard.

The keyboard works by allowing you to assign a typing shortcut/symbol to every single letter on the keyboard. So thats 26 letters, 26 x2 shortcuts (if you include after pressing the shift button, all letters become caps, and u get another 26 letters to assign shortcuts)

I cannot further emphasize how much FASTER this keyboard has helped me in my texting. Also, where else can u find a keyboard that has up,down, left, right on the same page? oh did i mention that this keyboard has a very useful built in 'undo' function?

Lastly, I personally believe you do not necessarily have to pay for quality. This excellent keyboard is FREE. beat that. =)

After trying almost every keyboard, I was fond of the touch pal for a while, but it got on my nerves. So I use the Samsung keypad And I love it. Ill try the fingerKeyboard tho.

* Just tried the finger keyboard, and its nice, But I find the letters are too small. And The auto correct wont work

Is there an all in one cab with fingerkeyboard 2.1 and omnia skins (with larger buttons)?

Ive tried to edit the original but it always ends up warped!

No, but the skins are ready - you just copy the files to the skins folder and overwrite the old ones <_<

Glad you like it too =)

Hmm for the '@' sign, just press and hold the letter 'h' and you'll get it. the letter 'h' is a shortcut for it, just like how all the other letters are shortcuts for other stuff =)

Haha, yay! There's my screenie! <_<

The only issue with PCMK is that version 0.14, which is required for the nice skins, doesn't work in landscape. That's fine for people like me who hate typing in landscape anyway, but for anyone that texts that way, or who's browsing a lot in landscape, you'll find the functionality limited. But don't blame the skinner... it's a bug with PCMK, which is why the newer versions are being developed, and the entire code was scrapped.

I've been using FingerKeyboard for a while now, as a replacement/supplement to PocketCM Keyboard. It's actually my default keyboard at the moment. I do like it, aside from the height of the keys. If I could have my keys be as large as in PCM, but with their same functionality, I'd probably use it exclusively.

ALSO, I've been trying to find out how to move the apostrophe button to where the semi-colon button is for several days, and nobody seems to have an answer. It currently resides in the most ridiculous, and least sensical place it could possibly be.

Customizing the layout isn't nearly as easy as it is for PCMK, if you're like me, and don't know much about changing things like that.

I used SPB Keyboard on my old Daxian X999, before I found anything else, and it was ok. I didn't love the layout of the letters though, and it really didn't have near the functionality as the other ones I've used since. Having symbols and alternate characters on the long press of a button is pretty much a necessity nowadays, unless SPB's changed that in their latest release.

Im using PocketCM and its nice, it dont use up as much space as FingerKeyboard, and the layout seems pretty solid.

I use fingerkeyboard 2.1 alot, and have become fond of some of the features.. I like being able to define the shortcuts on the keys, and the directional keys also help alot. it is a bit tall on the screen but you can get a skin that wont have the arrows and you save that space.

when i edit spbms3 dat files on the phone i have the password as a shortcut on the keyboard, so it makes that much faster when extracting and rezipping files. When editing the xml stuff i can select whole lines using shift and long press on the arrow keys. its pretty nice, and the many language layouts make it attractive all across the globe.

I bought spb keyboard as soon as i got my omnia but it is a pain to use compared to the fingerkeyboard, since i type in spanish and english sometimes. I like touchpal because it actually had multiple language input options so you can have it recognize words in both languages, but its a bit wierd for me.. i might try v4 again.. i had the beta and it was ok, but hands down fingerkeyboard cant be beat for ease of use and customizability..

Sorry if I posted your screenie without your permission mate.

Have you finished the 40px res, yet?

Thanks for a great keyboard/skins.
