Guest Dblocker Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 Hey sector. Do you know if there's a way, using SmartLock, to have the phone go into suspend mode like 5 seconds after I press the hardware lock key (long press of Omnia's red End key)? I don't want the "Lock on Dim" option set cause it's annoying to have it lock while reading a website in Opera Mobile, or while using Google Maps with the GPS. Seems SmartLock only let's you set the "Suspend after lock" option if the Dim timer is set too? I'm basically looking for a way to lock and suspend the phone with one of the talk / dpad / end keys instead of the power button - which to me is harder to get at than the bottom buttons on the Omnia. I guess another alternative would be if I could program the left sofkey in WoZZeR's 6.5 rom to lock + suspend? Any ideas?
Guest dwallersv Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 You want Start Menu->Personal->Buttons, "Wake Up" tab, check "When device is woken up, lock device". This will make the built-in lock engage when the phone comes out of sleep. You can then set up an auto power-off in the Power Settings, as well as a dimming timeout. It will not lock when it dims, but will be locked if it suspends automatically, or you manually suspend via the power button. You can still lock manually by holding the End key. I believe this is exactly what you're looking for, eh? Alternatively, use a better (MUCH better) locking utility like S2U2. The precise locking behavior I've described here can be configured for S2U2, as well a many more variations that are not possible with the built-in mechanism, the unlocking mechanism is better and more elegant, there are other methods for unlocking that can be turned on (like unlock after rotation, for example), and the S2U2 display offers a bunch of functionality with email, texts, appts, etc. in a nice display presentation that puts the stock WM6/Omnia lock to shame. I highly recommend S2U2 over the built-in lock. However, you can do what you want to do with it, and it is a minimalist app for locking, if that's your desire.
Guest Dblocker Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 Thanks for the reply dwallersv. I have been using S2U2 for some time and I'm just experimenting if the native WM6.5 Lock can handle my requirements with a little tweaking. I currently have dim set to 30 seconds and suspend set to 1 minute. What I'm hoping is to find a way to suspend after a much shorter time once I've manually locked the device. Waiting a minute each time I lock and put the device away throughout the day I'd guess would add up to some wasted battery power. I've been playing with the SmartLock utility which has a "suspend after lock" 5 second capability but only when "lock when dim" is also selected. Right now I'm leaning towards going back to S2U2 because of it's great capabilities.
