Guest Earni Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 ok, i have done a hell of a lot of reading on this, firstly, i am not new to flashing, i have a HTC Diamond which gets flashed regularly. I have recently purchased an omnia and the stock rom has started to let me down in a few different areas so i'm looking to flash it. secondly, it seems to be incredibly easy to brick an omnia, there are a scary amount of topics with people saying they bricked theirs. thirdly, surely it must be possible to flash from a vista PC. it is not logical to flash from an image of an xp pc. fourthly, is there not something like HardSPL(whats used for flashing diamond) to save everyones phones from becoming bricked? if not, i think there is definately a need for this kind of bootloader program to be developed, it would save us and the manufacturers a lot of time and i myself would definately be willing to donate for it! sorry for my rant on my 1st post. im just finding it all a bit confusing compared to flashing my diamond
Guest XtremeMaC Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 (edited) it is possible to flash from vista with grand prix tool also with vmware u're able to install xp virtually and work your way from there..so no formatting or replacing vista.. might not be very convinient but i use vmware anyhow. i'm on win7 but haven't tried to flash it on win7. I haven't bricked mine yet. dunno how ppl do it. i dunno if they do something wrong during the procedure or just though luck. what kind of issues do u have with your omnia? we've all flashed it hoping for something better, but i haven't really had many problems with any of the roms. (maybe because i downloaded the proper ones or something..) if u're not happy with the touchscreen there seems to be a new/better one everyone talked about. with that i'm sure your problems will be 50% gone <_< my 2 cents Edited May 24, 2009 by XtremeMaC
Guest Earni Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 yeah the touch screen is very poor. i just find it very sluggish compared to other winmo phones i have. also i would like to use WM6.5 as i like titanium, not too over impressed with the samsung widget thing if im honest. is there a clear cut guide to flashing my omnia then without bricking it lol?
