I've had a Touch Diamond, which has Hardspl, so yeah, nothing bad can really happen.

BUT it seems that the Omnia doesn't have Hardspl, so...is it hit or miss everytime one flashes their Omnia?

Not risky as long as you follow the instructions on various threads.

Use XP, make sure your phone is fully charged, etc.

Go for it, you wont look back! <_<

I have vista but use my other laptop (XP) to flash.

There have been lots of probs with flashing cooked roms with vista.

I have updated my rm but only with official rom from samsung website with vista.

Safer to use vista for cooked roms. Cooked roms are MUCH better than official. <_<

You got an official ROM from the Samsung website?.. For the i910???

this is in the omnia section, not the i910 section, so he might be referring to the 900..

I have flashed like 5 times already and no problems so far, and also have not had issues with the roms like many others have had.. i usually just use my phone for internet and a couple of games and gps.

That's what I figured, but it ever hurts to ask...

Ah, so its not just that some Omnias are faulty and wont allow flashing?

I was planning on getting mine flashed at the service center first, to make sure it wont break when i flash it, but i guess that wont really prove anything

Whats the main issue that goes wrong when people flash it? is it just they unplug it when it looks like its frozen, but dont realize its still loading?

People flash the wrong version, use ports that are secure thus coming unhooked during flashing, manually unhooking while flashing, battery dying, the computer having something running that stops the flashing....

Yes, those are many ways that people have bricked their phones... some are their fault, some not...

That being said, I'm all for flashing :) I've flashed over 10 times and I love it... experience different set ups, ect. I recommend doing it, but PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, READ THE DIRECTIONS AND FOLLOW THEM! More you know, the less you fsck up <_<

very very vague question abt flashing.... its like u are asking if it is risky to cross the road with closed eyes!!!

well of course there is always a risk, a risk that u do something wrong and then u just end up with a bricked omnia, but there are also many other people who did it and nothing wrong happened. some people followed all the instructions but still have a bricked omnia, others didnt even read half of the instructions and have a newly flashed custom ROM on their omnia.

all of it depends on ur abilities to flash,ur understanding of it and if u didnt already run out of dumb luck!

i dont think u should take others experience as yours, but learn from their mistakes and share yours. otherwise if there is something to go wrong, then it will go wrong, no matter what u try. so its just trying and getting lucky.
