Just wondering if there is an original factory rom for the i910. After using the unofficial one for some time i'm not that impressed. Anyone know where I can get this?

I'm pretty sure once you go to the Unofficial ROM you're stuck. HAve you tried some of the cooked ROMS?

I have a few problems with the cooked ROMs . . . 1) they DRAIN the battery (especially those using 6.5), 2) while removing a lot of the extra crapware from verizon and samsung they include other crapware that I'm unlikely to use, 3) the GPS still will not lock on in a timely manner without the aid of 3rd party apps that FURTHER DRAIN THE BATTERY!

Don't get me wrong I'm very impressed by the efforts of the individuals making these roms, but I'm also concerned that I may have to take my phone into verizon at some point (although I don't think I've ever done this in the past with any phone). I'm also extremely angered by the keyboard issues with the leaked rom and the fact that I can't hit "ghi" (phonepad) and "space" and see the letter "I" in my text messages! Instead I get "g", and I cannot program "I" into the dictionary because of an apparent minimum word length restriction.

Wow I don't have any of those issues. Have you tried Wozzer's 6.5 Naked ROM? That take's care of your progs you don't want issue. I really think my battery last longer as long as I have location to 911 only. It only takes me a min or two to get a GPS lock with Garmin, location on of course. I really couldn't be much happier compared to the factory ROM. I'm also not experiencing any problems with the keyboard...anymore.

When the leaked rom was posted, another rom was also posted that was supposed to be closer to the original rom.

I don't know of anyone who has flashed it though.

The leaked rom was S:i910.10 V.CC20 the other rom was CB.. something

I have/had the other rom that was posted. Its broken. It gives a checksum error with UMDL. Guaranteed brick maker.

That said, I have a stripped WM 6.5 rom that gives 138mb free, and very little added (almost nothing). I've also got a 6.1 rom that gives 139mb free, which has a couple more things, but still very much stripped. I guarantee that the 6.5 has battery life than stock Omnia rom. I guarantee my 6.1 has considerably better battery life than my 6.5 rom.

You can't lump cooked roms together. Every chef has something different to offer. My specialty is space.

Where do I find your 6.1 ROM?

Wow, thanks everyone for all the responses. Adynalyne I am a big fan of your work, although I'm currently using Wozzer's M2D rom (with touchflo disabled for the sake of my battery). Did you mean to say that 6.5 has better battery life than the stock? Maybe it has more to do with leaving the GPS location on (although I seem to remember always leaving it on with the leaked rom and having considerably longer batter life).

I really do appreciate all the responses. My needs are fairly simple. . . I want plenty of battery life, plenty of disc space available, plenty of available ram, snappy performance, I don't want to wait longer than a minute or two for the gps to lock, and ideally I'd like to use touchflo or some other attractive and functional (I'm using a trimmed down version with M2DC, the original is loaded too many useless tabs) UI.

Overall I love my Omnia, I'm just a perfectionist when it comes to my electronic devices. My only complaint would have to be the resolution. If any of you have used remote desktop on your omnia you understand my frustration. Even browsing the internet can be frustrating. I've been a verizon customer for a long time and have no plans to leave, despite some of their awful policies. All the reviews said this was a better phone than the touch pro. What they don't tell you is that aside from Verizon's retarded move to decrease the ram, most all the complaints of that phone dealt with touchflo3d. Looking back, that really pisses me off. I could have got that phone and put tf2d on it. That's a horrible way to judge a product. That's no different than when a vaio laptop gets a bad review for loading their systems with bloatware. Don't get me wrong, shame on sony (especially at those prices), but anyone with amount of technical background knows how to do a clean install. You can't give a piece of hardware a bad review on the basis of it's bundled software. If that's how we're going to conduct reviews the omnia should recieve a horrible rating for that awful widget thing that both looks terrible and is entirely useless.

Thanks to all for your input and opinions.

May I ask what you did to fix the keyboard. I'm currently using wozzers 6.5 m2d and it still gives me problems.
