Guest enoir Posted May 29, 2009 Report Posted May 29, 2009 absolutely gutted!!!!! I sent my Omnia off to Vodafone to repair it being bricked using vie12 (no omnia logo just a faint back light) They said they will not repair due to water damage!!!! Its never been in the rain, in steam and defo hasnt been dropped in the bath. I get the feeling they didnt know what to do, so that old chestnut of "liquid damage" must apply. oh well, guess ill have to use my old htc monet (lobster 700tv) until my contraact expires in March next year. boo hoo <_<
Guest FutureDirt Posted May 29, 2009 Report Posted May 29, 2009 Mate... vodafone talk out of their arse most of the time. Ask them to send you the unit back and contact Samsung directly. Either find your nearest samsung service centre or go to their support site. I am sure they will be able to repair your unit for you.

Not holding much hope out tho, especially after reading that there is a small litmus strip inside the Omnia that detects water damage. i could take it if they said that the firmware is different and you have invalidated your warranty but for them to say water damage is annoying beyond belief. They did give me £25 credit to buy a Vodafone PAYG phone from their store lol.
Guest banderdragon Posted May 29, 2009 Report Posted May 29, 2009 there is a sticker on the inside the phone that is only about a cm square. it has little red dots on it, sometimes in a thatch pattern. when the phone gets moist the red bleeds to cover the sticker. this may sound like a great time-saving idea for the techs. THEY DON'T WORK. if you keep it in your pocket over the summer and you sweat it makes it bleed. if you live anywhere where there is humidity it bleeds, and if you ever used a cleaning solution, even if it is created specifically for your phone, it will cause it to bleed. I had a phone for 30 days before i broke it (VX6900, i fried the USB somehow). when i took it to Best Buy they looked at that and tried to give me a hard time about it saying i had got it wet. I had the Protection Plan so they had to send it away. Their service center said it was broken and they OKed a new phone for me. Got me an Omnia and the service plan again. =)

I hope Samsung are better than Vodafone cos they're just idiots
Guest The-Fat-Ref Posted June 1, 2009 Report Posted June 1, 2009 If this Vodafone UK; they have an option where you can pay £40 and they will repair it. Found this out with my Tocco after they had returned it twice already due to Water Damage! This is quite cheap considering the cost of a replacement handset, and if they've credited you £25 already, you only have to pay £15 :-) Worth considering!

I asked them about that and they completely refused to touch it. Oh well at least my omnia brick looks pretty with its mirror screen protector.
