I have a desktop pc, a laptop, my omnia, and an ipod touch. I want to connect these devices together on my home network using a wireless adsl router.

I'll leave the ipod issue to another forum since it's not its place here. I didn't set my home network yet, and I already read about the DLNA server in windows media player 11 and other 3rd party solutions. But from my understanding this will only help in streaming media from computers to dlna enabled devices. What I was thinking of is making a real network where I can browse and share files among all the devices much like what you do between 2 or more computers. I think this must be done on the router itself since it will be the center of the network (only the desktop pc is connected via a network cable, the other devices connect via wireless lan). I there a way to do that? really hope there is <_<

Afaik windows mobile doesn't support the 'windows' type of file sharing. I've tried a third party product (forgot wat it was) but never got that to work. So now I've set up my music (UPnP) server as a FTP server and use Resco Explorer to copy files to my Omnia over wifi and that's good enough for me.

Apparently there's a DNLA pluging for Pocket Player which you might try: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=472866

i am using a program named pocket lan that can connect your pda to your network.

With this program and a standart file explorer , you can share , browse or transfer your files or folders through the lan like a on your desktop

but its main screen isnt fit to omnia'S display but it isnt importat , program is fully functional with it...

You can't share files and folders from your Omnia to other clients on the network as a server. WM6 does not support that.

However, you can mount network shares from other servers on the network, like your PC, laptop, or anything else that supports outbound windows file sharing, and access everything on your Omnia, with Resco Explorer. I don't know if this is built-in to WM6 and simply exposed by RE, or if RE implements the functionality directly. Since I always use RE in place of the WM File Explorer, I have no experience with trying to mount and browse network shares bia WMFE.

If you open file explorer

menu/go to/open path/new path and type \\computername

it will open than computer and show you all the folders you have shared on it. The transfer rate is extrememly slow and takes less time finding your usb cable and connecting it.

when i connected to my home network through wifi ,in file explorer, i opened menu / go to ...... type \\computrname , it gave me a message that was "cannot connect with current conneciton settings. To change your connection settings , tap settings."

in settings menu , there werent any settings about wifi networks. there were settings about cellular line, gprs etc.

with pocket lan and file explorer you can connect your home network and share , browse , transfer other pc's sharing folder and files from your omnia...
